Dates on the screen show 1987. INet says release date was actually Jan 1988.

Mac 128K release date 1984. (SE was actually in 1989)

The Mac Plus and 512K enhanced were released around this timeframe.

Amiga 1000 release date was 1985.

Amiga 500 release date was 1987.

Windows outsold them all.

Actually, wasn't IBMs first GUI for the PC, OS/2 "Presentation Manager", which was released in November 1988. Not a surprise that MS beat OS/2, since MS wrote OS/2 for IBM. (That was IBM's stupidest move ever)

I was listing competitors to Windows 2, as that is what this video is about. I don't think we can consider Win 1 a GUI tho. :-) And I realized after I posted your point was you thought IBM had good marketing. I think it's understandable why I missed that. :-)

Technically it is. But realistically? :-) Compared to what Mac, Amiga, and even the ST had graphically at the same time. Win1 was a tiled app display screen. :-) IMHO

Now, I actually used a very early version of GEM on a PC that was a full GUI, but it didn't get any market share. Too bad.

Let's see - 1987 means you had a choice of:

Amiga Workbnech (with true multitasking)

Apple Mac System 4

Atari TOS

Commodore GEOS

Microsoft Windows 2

Of those I'd say the 4000-color and CD-quality-sound Amiga was best, the MacOS second best, and GEOS third best (a C=64 only cost $100 at that point). I wouldn't touch the other systems.

Windows Vista is the most secure Windows so far, and its not slow @ all

Ive tried to use Mac OS X Leopard on my computer, but it was slow as hell, and VERY incompatible with nearly all my hardware/software

Windows is better for home/gaming purposes, Mac is for Non-gamers which need a secure relatively crashfree environment to do their jobs

I stick to Windows Vista, my pc likes it the best (tried XP too, but not as fast as Vista)

Actually if its a real mac and you install Vista in Boot Camp it can be a pretty powerful gaming computer lol because in boot camp it has full support and all the ram and power and Aero and stuff so its not like a virtual machine but i don't hate vista its just that you have to have a really good PC config to run it without problems or at least hardware and speed problems pretty much it all depends on ur configuration

I wasn't saying that. I said that PCs won't get viruses if you stay off of porn sites, simple as that. If you use a PC irresponsibly, then you will get viruses. If you use it responsibly, and stay off of suspicious sites, then you won't get viruses.

I think by "unprotected" system he means, not only without Anti-Virus software and/or Firewall, but also an old, original XP installation without any security fixes or service packs...

Worms like Blaster very quickly infect those systems if you're connected to the internet. You don't even have to visit any websites at all.

It does this by checking randomized IPs if there are vulnerable systems. If they found one it gets infected and will be used to generate more random IPs and infect more PCs

I used no anti-virus/malware/spyware software a few years back. I didn't get any viruses. The reason you get viruses is because you go to sertain websites that has them. You don't get them for no reason.
