As what ive remembered GM Cacoy gave us the tools and that in my understanding gave us the freedom not to modify but to improve the system of eskrido and thats what martial arts is all about. we simply not to modify to make it worse but to make it better. Yes there may be different views on Eskrido, but there's only one Eskrido. People have been using this name but they attempt to modify the applications.
On my comment, I was trying to imply that the demo is different from what we are practicing. During Eskrido seminars of GM Cacoy, the dummy is supposed to block or trap the stick. Because It's best to practice it during "palusot". It is always nice to follow standards. Sorry if you think im impolite but I was just saying that if you compare it with the Eskrido being taught by the founder, it's different.
No offense but that's not the way it's done...that's purely a demo. Apply Eskrido during actual sparring where your opponent wont just stand without defending himself and waits to get thrown.
That's your own openion.. but our Master Borces ESKRIDO is about the combination of the 3 martial arts.. namely: Eskrima, Karate and Judo.. its patterned on the basics strikes (im pretty sure you know the basics? except if your not a eskrimador?).. it is design only to neutralize the opponent, not killing them.. now the throwing part solely depends on the opponent.. now if your the opponent, which you prefer? get thrown or get a fractured bone, which believe me its not a pretty sight?...
GM Joe Borces came out in the last Human Weapon episode eskrima. He is one of our great Masters of Doce Pares. Hopefully you guys upload a better reception on the vid.
