  • Moorthy,Theertham ,Sthalam,Vrusham are very important for our temples.Every temple has its own story about this. Thanks for your services. Vazhha VaLamudan.

  • I liked your answer. But, according to some, vrikshas are mainly only present in Murukan temples. Is there a reason for this?

  • @mohan0128 : virukshas are present in shiva and shakthi temples as well...mostly in shaivisim related temples to say for growth of any living organisim the sivan (jeevan) and shakthi is important.

  • I did my research and here are my findings on sthalvriksham

The whole tree is in the seed. It is the concept of Hindu philosophy, which means that the whole universe is from Brahman. The whole force is in one seed i.e. seed --> tree --> seed. It represents human evolution and destruction and goes back to nacent stage

In upanishads and vedas it is:

    "Om Poornamadah Poornamidam Poornat Poornamudachyate,

    Poornasya Poornamaadaya Poornamevavashishyate,

    Om Shantih, Shantih, Shantih"

  • @KrishnaKaBhakt

    contd..

Ishavasya Upanishad, mentions this entire conviction. A tree is something to be worshiped

Some trees have presence of saints like the Bodhi Tree where Gautam Buddha got enlightnment

Some trees may be sacred to that particular place

Some trees are also connected with God i.e

    Vilvam tree with Lord Shiva

Tulsi tree (or peepal tree I think) with Lord Vishnu.

Not all the people are able to go to the sanctuary and pray, so they will pray to these trees instead

  • @KrishnaKaBhakt : thanks for your comments...but why trees are not kept in every temple then ?

  • @Murugabhaktan

Honestly I am not a great temple visitor, and not seen all the temples around to gather the satistics...... for the simple reason that when the formless God (truth) is everywhere then why search for it only in temples.

I invite you to my channel where I have put my views (in profile) on idol worshiping and temple visits.

    Hare Krishna

  • is this what the tohogapiam talks about..?

  • @r4rasa : yes....you still remember...well done and pls take care.

  • i hope the trees in the temple are having medicinal powers, there are specific trees for specfied rashis(signs), it will help in cleanising karmas, The trees(viruksha) like Pathiri, Arasa,Nagalinga are particularly associated for Rashis and medicines.

  • ok,if it is why they planted "specified tree" to specified temple, they can plant any trees but they are having specially particular one associated to the temple. ok, but your answer should open the eyes of many in darkness.....

  • @japsltd : Thanks for your comments...in this scientific world no one will be ready to agree if we say that this tree will help and that tree wont help...only people who dont think using there inner sense will be ready to follow ...but for me i want everyone to be self realised and dont follow things without understanding. Hope you understand my point of view.
