@modelhorsecollector1 well Pilgrim was hit by the truck full force. and then in that situation he ran away into the woods. its a horses natural instinct to flee in danger. so he was acting on instinct. Pilgrim was emotionally and physically scarred and scared of everything and every1 he saw. he turned "rogue" to protect himself.

The horse that played Pilgram passed away last year in october 2008..his real name was hightower I read about in a horse magazine I get and he passed away of natural causes..R.I.P. HighTower!..and actuly he played Ginger in Black Beauty!

oh my gosh. after all thegreat books i've read, horse whisperer remains to be my favorite, it just touched my core. now, to discover that it was actually made into a film with one of my favorite actresses, Scarlett, playing the young girl's part after almost 5 years after reading the book is just...,just amazing. i didn't know it was made into a movie! i thought i was just lucky to have found such a great book. amazing... =)

The way pilgrim acts after the accident reminds me of my favorite horse. He was my riding horse for lessons. I went to florida to live with my aunts for about a month. After that month, I sent a friend in to get him because i felt like there was something wrong and he was confident he could get the horse out. The poor horse was so scared and panicky, I had to take a different one, seeing a horse that had always been so sweet freak out like that almost made me break down crying right there

Basically summed up in my opinion. what happened Grace grabbed Gulliver's(her friend's horse) reins to get them all to the side however, the truck could not stopped due to ice, Grace's friend was unconscious and run over by the truck, her horse also killed. however,Pilgram reared up,throwing Grace out of the saddle and avoiding more serious damage to himself.had he not reared, he would have had been MORE seriously hurt.But that just my Observation. hopefully this makes sense

When I first saw Horse whisperer in 1998 I was searching for my first horse, the words "just wait" came into my head as I sat there watching the movie. 2 months later I had my boy.8 years later he died in a tragic circumstance by an incompetent vet, on the spot i gave my permission to have my best friend put down.I have never felt such sadness and guilt he never put a foot wrong, he gave me so many wonderful rides and memories, i will never forget him. this song makes me think of him.I still cry

I watched your video of "a year ago" do you still have your irish sport horse? He is just gorgeous! After my horse died 18 months ago, I was given an aged gelding he is black clydesdale X -a real sweety, cant ride him as he ties up, but I love him just the same.Your horse reminds me of my horse, you can imagine a knight in full armour sitting astride them, cantering toward you, with this big powerful beautiful creature thundering toward you. regards  winbenkle

It's kinda interesting, actually. In an interview, Robert Redford stated that he decided on ending the film that way to show that "... and they lived happily ever after" doesn't always happen in both real life and love.

I kinda agree with that since it was more realistic that Annie chose to stay with her husband to keep her family together despite their differences. Either way... great novel, great movie. We all win! :)

This moive is THE PERFECT example of the bond between horse and rider!! Even after a horrific accident like that, Pilgrim remebers and Grace tries hard 2 get on him again and does it!! No matter what a horse will love u!! Its sooo sad but SOOOOOO good!! Great job!

i cried... this is like what happened to me and my horse, last year we were in a show, i told him to jump from an imposible spot,but he did anyway. when we fell he was trapped in the tack and jump, i broke many bones. it took me a week in a coma and 2 mnths of pys th. and my horse like 6 mnths to trust and ride again, then we went back to the same show and got champ. this is y i love this movie

I had a terrible riding accident 2-3 years ago and i hurt my back badly, i had to give my horse away as i couldnt look after him. I was told to stop riding by 3 physio's, 3 consultant speacialists and my Gp but i am still riding and nothing will ever break my bond and love for horses, ive been riding for over 15 years and its part of my heart.
