  • Will you ever do Snuff? The latest discworld novel starring Sam vines?

  • @RFEM520 Yes, once I've read it. Problem is I can't afford it right now (my sister needs help with her car insurance, which will basically wipe me out) :-(

But as soon as I've got it and read it, I will review it :-)

  • I'm doing an essay on this book and I found it really hard to understand but this review helped me alot Thanks!!

  • @EvalRoxx No worries!

Let us know what grade you get :-)

  • well... now I'm debating with myself AGAIN. 6minutes ago I was sure to buy going postal the day after tomorrow, reading it in -say- 2 days, doing some crying (because, shit! I was promising myself to learn, not reading all day!) giving the book to my brother, who will read it in one night and talk abut the brilliance of pratchett till I'm satisfied. NOW I want to read unseen academics. and I don't even like football!

you are way to good with this reviewing thing. if I fail my tests, I blame you!

  • @VisArtable Meh, you can retake them ;-)

  • Well done that man! (GrannyGoddy) Everything you said applied to me - - here in the wilds of Australia - but a hard & fast Sir Terry Pratchett fan! It was my eldest daughter's reading of him to myself that brought me out of a 3 week coma in 2002 - from having had my head trodden on by my horse - ooops!

  • @chevyandmanda That is a genuinely wonderful story :-)

How did it happen, if you don't mind me asking?

  • Football has been mentioned quite a few times before in the Discworld novels. The one that stands out to me most is when Carrot turns the war into a football match at the end of Jingo.

It has also been said that wizards play football in one of the footnotes of one of the earlier Watch books.

  • @JingoJingle Ahhhh, so Carrot does. Now that you say it, it does ring a bell... My bad :-)

  • you just likened a pratchett storyline with a 'buffy the vampire slayer' storyline... shame on you!

  • @cathyh101 I know... I feel... ashamed...

May the Great God (holy-horns) Om forgive me :-(

On the bright side, this is infinitely better than Buffy the Vampire Slayer, so it kind of balances out ;-)

  • Well judging from your reviews I would say you are right!

  • Oh I know that one, good one to use against those hardcore Potter fans - who fight to the death - that its the 'best fiction' ever written. I don't know how someone can be so dim, I guess its reflected in her writting... go figure

  • @michaelwatchman "Best fiction ever written"? I've got an entire bookcase

    that says they're wrong :-)

  • Not to wish the same same fate on anyone else, but when you think there are certain people who write about 2D eternally angry, wizard, teenage boys, with all the depth of a brick. Why him?

Yes that is very true, perhaps better to come yet!

  • @michaelwatchman True.

I still love what Pratchett said about a certain Ms Rowling when she said she didn't realise she was writing fantasy:

Terry Pratchett: I would have thought that the wizards, witches, trolls, unicorns, hidden worlds... would have given her a clue?

Made me smile that one :-)

  • Especially (even though there are many books in the series) it doesn't seem like it should end yet, or any time soon.

  • @michaelwatchman But if Unseen Academicals is anything to go by, he's got a few good ones left yet :-)

  • Great review! Got to say it is a great shame about Terry's condition!

  • @michaelwatchman I know. Didn't quite know what to make of it when I found out.
