Great video, only there are WS's tthat have their EL stuck to the circuit board, which means you also have to take apart the display itself, which is a nightmare....

Hi mate, why don't you replace the whole display and backlight with a LED one?

You can do this on the A/D and it's not very expensive or difficult, it also gets rid of that annoying power inverter. I just got a A/D and will be doing the mod some time once I get some cash...

I tried to do this on my Roland D-550 module, but unsuccessfully. I disasembled the unit, got to the LCD, removed the old strip, put in the new one, soldered the two connectors, and the whole thing didn't work. The display was not backlit and barely showed anything. Had to give the instrument for scrap to the used equipment music store. Believe it or not, the Wavestation A/D backlight strip is sitting on my dask, but I don't have the courage to do this again.

I once did a backlight replacement on my korg i3 .. but i had to remove the lcd panel to get to the backlight ... reassembling toke some time .. at first there where some missing lines in the lcd ,, but after some tweaking its now 100%...

I also repaired my backlight inverter in my korgpa-50... it died on me after just 3 months..... id didn't want to sent the unit for repair .. so i took it apart and replaced 2 faulty transistors ... still works after 2 years....
