  • Dusty made a pass at Anne, but Anne turned her down, causing Dusty to become furious.

They made up, and were close friends by the time Dusty died.

  • "Down"town? Interesting song choice, eh?

  • Anne has said Dusty tried to have sex with her. Anne also claims she (Anne) is not a Lesbian. Dusty had lived openly with a woman lover. And if Anne is not Gay, nor was Liberace.

  • Wow, two angelic voices. Anne Murray has one of the most beautiful voices of all time.

  • Anne said in her book "All Of Me", that Dusty had a crush on Anne. Too bad Dusty just couldn't get a handle on her drug abuse. A great performance by two greats.

  • Great - especially hearing the chat!

  • wow i cant belive this.

  • this is so horrifically naff, what a shame to waste the opportunity

  • @downhill34 actually the only naff thig about this is your commentary

  • Two of my favourite lesbians.

  • gosh I love this!

  • Anne is in great voice here.

  • I was lucky enough to be there that night, London welcomed back one of the greatest female singers ever

  • somedoby plz can tell me what song they sing at 2:48 plzzz

    tnx u = )

  • @waswerewent the song is As Tears go By ----- marianne faithful1965

  • @bigfanization tnx for answering = )

  • thank you, i forgot say you tnx back

    = )

  • @waswerewent sorry I thanked my self but again You are more than welcom

  • @bigfanization you are more than weocome

  • Anne's voice is superb, at her finest. Dusty I hear was quite the DIVA, showing up late and hard to direct. Anne Murray was certainly gracious to share the stage with her favorite female singer. Another tidbit is Dusty had a big crush on Anne, she slapped Anne's husband in the face. Apparently she wasn't thrilled with him being around and wanted Anne to herself. During Dusty's final days, she wanted to speak to Anne again, to thank her for getting her back in the game.

  • Anne & Dusty rule!

  • I love This Anne Murray and Dusty Springfield Rock.

  • Very enjoyable duet. Ann Murray is a good singer, but Dusty is a star. She always is.

  • Finally a true duet for Dusty in like company, instead of the fake duets Love songs w/ Male singers. 2 Tremendous Talents, very different voices , however equally A plus and so so unique! Anne though quite attractive, is not Dustys type, Dusty liked the Darker Women, she married one.

  • @Vstar4me What darker one?

  • @tedabracci Dusty did mary a darker haired Woman in Cali, a good looking one at that! Now I am just basing this on her authorized biography by Vicki W. . From what I understand Dusty did love this Woman till the very end of her life, even though she refused her phone call, Dusty was quoted as saying , I do still Love her .

I do think you know the name well.

  • Good Lord, what is wrong with you people? It's about the music, not people's personal lives. How would you like to live under a microscope and be judged by every movement? Both of these women are *legends* and I feel honored simply to have been on the planet at the same time they were/are. Also, out of respect to Anne, she has worked so hard all her life to give us the GIFT of her music and incomparable voice - she deserves nothing but our respect.

  • @ITRANS4M You are right and I should have written more and explained my statement. You explained it perfectly!! Both of these women have my utmost respect because of their music.

  • what year was this?

  • @TheBeanie1963 it's from 1985, "Anne Murray: The Sounds of London".

  • Wonderful document, indeed*******

    Lovely medley and ending song!!!

    Both songstresses are really great!!

    Greetings from Mexico!

  • They both look great and sing great. Down to earth too.

    Why was Anne "courageous" ?

  • Anne Murray loved Dusty Springfield's voice.......and Anne is not gay!!!!

  • @oldlady32 Great and all.....but it shouldn't matter if anyone is gay! It's about the music and that's what it should remain..a love for the music. I wouldn't have cared if Dusty Springfield had a shaved head and crooked teeth..it don't matter. Glad you are fan regardless.

  • @Gem5771 I don't care who's gay or not, it's just tiring to hear so many people try to judge on that aspect also. I have tons of respect for Anne and Dusty!!

  • @oldlady32 The lady doth protest too much, methinks.

  • @ScooterMcBean I don't protest too much, I just get tired of people trying to judge other people and accuse people of something they are not wether it is being gay, a racist or whatever. People need to quit stirring the pot and get out into the real world and maybe some of this stupid hatred would stop!!

  • @oldlady32 In this day and age there is no reason for a person to deny their sexual identity, unless it is to cover for the fact that they have been lying to people for their entire life. What makes it worse is when they are lying to the public and its common knowledge in closer circles, the public are being played as fools.

When George Takei publicly came out of the closet at the age of 68, he showed real courage, but I don't think he was such a vehement denier.

  • whoever put this on here...Thank you so so much!! I remember this special on tv and I had wished often that I had taped it.

Dusty was wonderful and she was well loved. Anne, I love too. Took a trip once up to her hometown of Spring Hill Nova Scotia to her museum. Well worth a visit!!

    Thanks again!

    Michael in Washington DC

  • excellent voices...lovely ladies.....fantastic video....thanks so much. I love both of these ladies for different reasons....let's stop the "is she/isn't she" and just enjoy what this video portrays.....great women singers...Dusty you were gone too soon...miss ya lots!!!

  • I remember seeing this years ago. I thought it was lost forever. Thanks so much for bringing it back. Love them both!!

  • I think it's pretty obvious, Anne.

Anyway, this vid's a treat, but why does Anne act as if Dusty's a dinosaur? There's only a 6-year age diff, hardly a different generation. Heck, Annie's not even a true Baby Boomer!

  • Who cares what her sexual orientation is? She is a very talented singer, a great role model, a wonderful mother, and a fantastic person. That's what matters.

  • If she were a wonderful mother, her kids wouldn't have had so many problems. And have you read her autobiography? Talk about vacuous!

  • Sure thing, kpenguins - we can always hope! Like Starcrane says, Annie is the tops whether she is gay or not. If she is gay, I just wish she could have the courage to 'come out' once and for all - after all, it is 2009!

  • i agree with you kpenguins. i don't care if annie is a martian unisex unit, she's tops in my book.

I wish, though, that someone would just step forward and out her. I've talked with different lesbians on the east coast, and annie was spotted in women's bars. i've also heard of women saying they knew of woman or women who have had affairs with her.

But she had her career, her family, and 'Oh Canada" to uphold. they are a pretty prim and proper bunch up there. no offense.

  • You're absolutely right, Star! Irrespective as to what she is, she is a fantastic woman.

  • Anne Murray is NOT gay. The Lesbians you've talked to are all liars.

  • Hey Morna; I agree with you. Both Anne and Dusty are great, whether they are singing together or apart. Anne could well be a closet case; for those of us who are gay, she does certainly seem to give out gay vibes. You only have to see some of the photos taken of her throughout the years; it's almost like she has a placard slung round her neck saying 'Yep, I'm a dyke'. Whether she is or not, I still think she is a fantastic singer and person and I love her to bits!

  • i love dusty and i love anne. i love them together, and i love them apart. this is a great vid.

and btw, anne could very well be a closet case. i know a lot of ex-married lesbians, who because of career and/or commitment to their 'family' will never be out. believe me on this. i know the signs. anne may not have been an out lesbian, and not just because of her 'husky' voice does she give out gay vibes. there is plenty to read. but i tire of this argument.

  • Finally never taught I'd see this again. I saw it way back when it came out on T.V.

    Dustys so great RIP DUSTY..

    Thanks Frans..

  • Wow wow wow ;o))))))

  • Frans, Once again!! You have outdone yourself. Two beautiful souls. Anne was courageous to duet these songs with Dusty.

  • Can only say wow...

    We're lucky to see this.

    thanks!

  • Holy smokies. This is just great, Plutoojes!!! Thanx...:)

  • @babaradio What darker one did she marry?
