It still seems absurd that, in 2010ad, when there are computers, science, reason, philosophy, art, that we the people would support a government that is at war with a plant. People that want to change policies should vote.
The federal governments position should always reflect the opinion of the largest majority of American voters. The governments job is to serve and represent the people of the union. The federal government should be able to interfere with state laws because it is the central government. The government of the states.
In my opinion medicinal marijuana should most defiantly be legalized. It is far less harmful and addictive than other legal and over the counter drugs.
Holy god... You are so smart, and absolutely gorgeous. I know it's completely off topic but I had to let you know... Anyways... I think the goverment should stop regulating something that is about as bad for you as soda. The only reason it's regulated is so many people could treat so many things with just pot, that pharmesutical companies would lose to much - and we all know how much our government seems to love pharmesuticals. Totally mispelled pharmesuticals huh? lol.
yeah except you can get the dankest of the dank, or in what ever form you want. Legalize it! Millions of Americans are getting arrested for a substance thats less powerful than alcohol
I believe the term medical marijuana is used instead of just saying marijuana because if they legalize it, it would be for illnesses alone. Much like any other perscription. It is illegal for you to get these drugs without a perscription from your doctor. I believe they are useing the term simply to point out it wouldn't be legal for your average joe to be sitting on the corner smoking it like one would a cigerate.

States should be able to enact laws without "checking" with the Federal Gov't first! Only exceptions should be laws that directly affect other state's citizens. If Iowa wanted to legalize Heroin and a majority of Iowa voters agreed; Why should the Fed have the ability to countermand the will of the free people of Iowa? I know that substituting "Heroin" for Marijuana may sound extreme, but I used it to emphasize the point.
Federal Gov't should stay out of State affairs, PERIOD!

Yet the federal gov comes in and busts patients and dispensaries that are in accordance with state law...

As a cancer patient who has undergone radio/chemo therapy I can attest to the benefits of pot. I was prescribed Kytril at $150.00-twice a day- per pill for nausea and it did not work. I bought a few bags of pot for less than half the daily Kytril cost and was sickness free. Also my apetite increased and I gained weight. Side effects, need for higher doses, addiction, cost to patient (medical expenses
The use of THC by a patient outweighs the side effects of narcotics: medical expense and side effects. Google the research. Marijuana is a plant given to humans, period, simple fact. As is evident in Genesis. Look up the verse and reply.

clinton, obama, kerry, edward, hinshere, etc admit to using marijuana. They "set the standard" in US, they wheren't raided, hauled to court, jail nor fined for using, handling, or possessing, now the "standard has been set" neither should any other citizen of US be punished. even thomas jefferson and washington used, Basicaly, their use especially, clintons, then allowed to become president, that "standard set" should be enough to nullify all federal and state laws against it.
what if the laws where that these people couldn't get grants and loans for education because they used, like law makers are trying to change the laws now or had to have drug testing in school, would they be allowed to have had a college education? be senators, or pres candidates? how about the judges, doctors, lawyers and police?
*shrug* all i know (and can understand from ur multi worded rambling) is that when a 'minor' is found and caught with any sort of thing deemed illegal here, its put on their permanent record and it can lower their chances of getting into a 'high-standard' school/program
yes, that is one point made(multi worded rambing=a few points made within a small space) Clinton's generation didn't have those regulations, his trouble as a teen/young adult did not stop him to get his education as well as presidentcy. the new generation are not being treated equally to the old generation, few "minors" don't get caught at something by the time they are in their twenties, this is the way a humanbeing grows up. Just as there are very few puppies that don't chew a shoe. It's life.
uh huh... im not sure why ur telln me this in the first place, but all i know is that each generation gets worse and worse and worse (stupid, sinister, goofy etc) my parent told me that when he was a kid nobody would think of bringing even a KNIFE to school. NOW uve got a few shootings at them! besides i think bush is a bi crack head. GO RON PAUL!!
lol at bi crack head, I'm probaly a bit older than your parent, public schools were filled with weapons where I grew up, but he is right about one thing most just fought it out and only "showed" the guns, today kids are shooting and killing a lot more. The drug use and sex is still about the same. stay safe and GB
very well expressed and clear questions. I believe drugs are strictly a health issue and our resources are to be directed to harm reduction strategies, not putting our people in jail. Control of drugs can be had thru legalizing them, taxes, regulations.
uuhhh 1) yes. 2) no. unfortunately the government isn't going to make medical marijuana legal anytime soon unless it deoesn't pose as a threat to so many industries it can replace and be even better at for a lower price
you are wrong, it is already accepted in 12 states. Do you write your congressmen or congresswomen about the issue? I do, the laws will be reformed sooner than later, they now have medical marijuana vending machines in California. Ask your congress person how can a medicine work in certain states but not everyone, does crossing state lines make it lose medicinal value. Your opinion is not illegal, and it is your tax dollars. It is a crime that medical marijuana is not allowed nationwide!
dude, ur talkn to me as if i don't agree with it. i do agree for medical marijuana to be benificial and sh1t. however, i don't think itll become legal anytime soon where IIIII live. get it now?
I am sorry to confuse you, I do not belief it will be legalized anytime soon, but I do belief decriminalization and acceptance of medicinal marijuana will be accepted in the near future, and not in months but years, but less than ten, much less I feel. koihoono I have no intention of being disrespectful to you at all, I am sorry if I offended you. I think we are both reading from the same book, maybe even the same chapter? I am a member of mppDOTorg, and I study medicine.
That is awesome that you are so intelligent at the age of 14. I never would have guessed I was speaking to a minor. I only wished I was more like you, than I was. Your father must be a great man.
Strange or not, as a father he has raised a very bright daughter. You seem to be very open minded, capable of critical thinking, where many are shallow and judgemental. It is very refreshing to see young people like yourself that are well educated and interested in controversial, but very important issues. Too much time and tax payers money is wasted on Marijuana, where if taxed and regulated it would generate billions of dollars to the economy. It would also help minimize the black market.
Give Ron Paul $105 on the 16th with three friends doing the same thing together, equaling $420. It is only five extra bucks each. Send in one check for $420 saying"Free the BC 3." Ron Paul will pardon the BC 3. Pay this money now, or pay a lot more than $105 dollars under some puppet, that will continue the George Walter Bush administration, or Bush part three. Vote Ron Paul or say hello to WWIII!
Marijuana should be legal. I think that's why they keep outlawing smoking in bars and restaurants so they can finally legalize marijuana so u can smoke it in your home.
Why does the Federal Government defy the will of the people when it comes to medical marijuana? It sends Americans to prison for taking the right medicine for their illness. That is the most dangerous side effect - imprisonment. Wishing all the best to MPP!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
My opinion follows the point, that there is no generalized conclusion possible. Think about all these young men15,16,17,18, and a lot of my friends were like that, not only male, start spending their livetime with smoking. That's wasted time. A lot of them are a little depressive know and they're 22 now. But it's not always like that--- I know people, who smoke their whole live and can do it. As a lot of doctors say, and I absolutely agree with that, the respond to marijuana genetically depends.
You are right, they do adovcate putting violent crime and sex crime in cages, not non-violent marijuana users. The compassion approach, that is the first step. Putting others first, giving the doctors the option to prescribe the safest medication, that is compassion! I don't believe patients are criminals, do you?
My argument for legalization/ health issues of marijuana can be simply stated as follows. Tobacco starts a plant. It grows in nature. We harvest it, alter it with other products, package it, market and tax it and it's legal.
Alcohol starts as a plant (rye, sugar cane etc...). It grows in nature. We harvest it, alter it with other products, package it, market and tax it and it's legal. It is however proven to cause significant deaths.
Marijuana starts as a plant. It grows in nature. We harvest it, dry it, roll it up and smoke it..No other products or mass marketing campaigns, no real determined health concerns yet this is ILLEGAL!!!!
It is not appropriate for the fed. gov. to interfere; not only are they undermining the state, they are undermining over 80% of the public. Join MPP! Don't just say right on, or legalize it, but say something original, that people will listen to. It is a crime the that medical marijuana is not allowed. McDonalds food is more dangerous than medical marijuana! Rob Kampia is a hero!

2) no. unfortunately the government isn't going to make medical marijuana legal anytime soon unless it deoesn't pose as a threat to so many industries it can replace and be even better at for a lower price
koihoono 4 years ago
you are wrong, it is already accepted in 12 states. It is a crime that medical marijuana is not allowed nationwide!

dude, ur talkn to me as if i don't agree with it. i do agree for medical marijuana to be benificial and sh1t. however, i don't think itll become legal anytime soon where IIIII live. get it now?
koihoono 4 years ago
I am sorry to confuse you, I do not belief it will be legalized anytime soon, but I do belief decriminalization and acceptance of medicinal marijuana will be accepted in the near future, and not in months but years, but less than ten, much less I feel. koihoono I have no intention of being disrespectful to you at all, I am sorry if I offended you. I think we are both reading from the same book, maybe even the same chapter? I am a member of mppDOTorg, and I study medicine.
IknowIamRight 4 years ago
er- its ok? @@; yeah you sound like an adult. i'm a 14 year old girl. though my dads studies medicine too (especially herbs)
koihoono 4 years ago
That is awesome that you are so intelligent at the age of 14. I never would have guessed I was speaking to a minor. I only wished I was more like you, than I was. Your father must be a great man.
IknowIamRight 4 years ago
thx! :) yeah my dads very smart although hid career choice was a little strange
koihoono 4 years ago
Strange or not, as a father he has raised a very bright daughter. You seem to be very open minded, capable of critical thinking, where many are shallow and judgemental. It is very refreshing to see young people like yourself that are well educated and interested in controversial, but very important issues. Too much time and tax payers money is wasted on Marijuana, where if taxed and regulated it would generate billions of dollars to the economy. It would also help minimize the black market.

lol thx a bunch i appreciate it. that is true >>

I gave you a thumbs up on the site 10questions. Great question. You're a great speaker!

Medical marijuana seems like an exceedingly narrow issue.
I would prefer a question the deals more broadly with policy WRT intoxicating substances.

Why does the Federal Government defy the will of the people when it comes to medical marijuana? It sends Americans to prison for taking the right medicine for their illness. That is the most dangerous side effect - imprisonment. Wishing all the best to MPP!

I'm from Germany. But I think it's about every one in the world.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
My opinion follows the point, that there is no generalized conclusion possible.

Marijuana Policy Project only advocates medicinal marijuana!
ponsuelo420 4 years ago
Thats not true.
They advocate for general legalization also.
k2dart 4 years ago
Note:
I was just responding to Ponsuelo since he thinks they only want to reform the medical laws. They want to reform all the laws, recreational included.
k2dart 4 years ago
You are right, they do adovcate putting violent crime and sex crime in cages, not non-violent marijuana users. The compassion approach, that is the first step. Putting others first, giving the doctors the option to prescribe the safest medication, that is compassion! I don't believe patients are criminals, do you?

so i guess you think doing anything that you don't like is "wasted time"

My argument for legalization/ health issues of marijuana can be simply stated as follows. Tobacco starts a plant. It grows in nature. We harvest it, alter it with other products, package it, market and tax it and it's legal.
ponsuelo420 4 years ago
It is however proven to cause significant deaths.

Minnesota medical marijuana bill passes final House committee, headed to the House floor for historic vote!
By a 13-4 vote, S.F. 345 --the Minnesota medical marijuana bill-- passed out of the Ways and Means Committee this afternoon! Having already passed the full Senate last year, House ways and means was the final committee the bill needed to clear in the Minnesota Legislature. It's now headed to the floor of the Minnesota House for its historic first-ever hearing by the full legislative body.

Day one of Ron Paul as president and the DEA is ordered to immediately halt the raids on medical marijuana clinics. Three months later North Dakota farmers begin sowing their hemp fields.
