Sorry, but, I haven't seen this movie, (I'm a huge fan of horror) and I just felt it's going to be shit the moment I saw the 2 girls who are (badly) acting as the cliche, blonde, damsels in distress. It irritates me when directors constantly cast the girls as the ones who need saving - for me, a true horror is where everyone is in danger, regardless of gender! I think The Descent makes a good comment on gender stereotypes, with the girls pretty much reduced to animals in order to survive.

Okay, first of all, Waverly Hills is a sanitOrium not a sanitArium.

It was a TB hospital where approximately 63,000 people died.

SanitAtiums are hospitals for the mentally unstable.

SanitOriums are hospitals that focuses on specialized care such as the treatment of TB.

I live within spitting distance of Waverly and have heard stories about it my entire life.

As for the movie, I wasn't all that impressed. But, the setting rocks.

Waverly, on the other hand, is one of the most haunted places on earth, though.

My grandmother spent about a year up there for treatment when she had TB.

She was lucky because they had just developed a cure TB by the time she got there.

Otherwise she wouldn't have been my grandmother.

Blood and Guts does not equal horror. If this were so, most action movies would be scary. It's a bi-product. Plenty of movies are scary with showing little to no blood and gore because they allow the imagination to fill in the blanks, which is often far more frightening.
