Simon was what was in the bag that Don Paolo dropped. The reason he's upset at losing Simon's body was because he wanted to dissect him to learn how Bruno's creations worked. This is hinted at in an earlier dialogue when Layton tells Luke that Don Paolo's scientific curiosity surely would have compelled him to study Simon as soon as he found him, except doing so might have compromised his cover. So instead, he just hid the body for later examination.

Yes, Layton got a letter from Lady Dahlia requesting his services. However, the letter you're talking about is a different one: it's a letter written by Luke, directed to a friend of his, that is, the player ("you"). More of an intro than anything.

It was Simon. That's how he was able to come back. When Bruno demands you return number 48 or whatever, he's talking about Simon. Don Paolo had taken him, otherwise, like Ramon, he would have been fixed and returned promptly.

I agree with you. Layton is my second favorite DS game. I can't wait for Layton 2&3 so I was wondering, maybe I can 3 people to write to Nintendo and ask for more Layton. Then they tell 3 people, before you know it... Nintendo will be getting a couple hundred calls/emails a day asking for more Layton. This is a proven method for Nintendo fans, it worked for Zelda: Master Quest and almost for MOTHER 1+2.

I beat the game the day I got it. Yes the scene at the train station and the "To Be Continued..." Nintendo hasn't said anything about another game, and I know it is gonna come, but I can't wait.
