@jazz29224 so this is what i did. i chose skill level over xp. i'm a captain at the moment. if u get like 20 skill level u will rank up to lieutenant fast. Once u get to like 30 skill level u will most likely become captain. which is what i did. but now i have to take the xp route for a bit before i rank up even more. for example i skipped 2 ranks to get to captain. but now i need 50 xp each to rank up to major before my skill level kicks in again. if this all makes sense cool :p if not...sorry.

The ranks doesn't tell how good you are. I went into a lone wolves game with 40 skill and bungie's crappy system pushed me out, when i had excellent connection and i lost xp. Since that i stopped caring about xp. When i get a map i don't like i leave.

@MrBlinkcorp B/c that's your rank in that specific playlist. Your main ranking is still private grade 2, but in the particular playlist you were playing in, you gain a separate rank. Same goes for all the other playlists, ex. lone wolves or team slayer.

i recently was a commander at lv 40. once i hit 400 EXP i was promoted to colonel. now it says i need 600 EXP until i become a brigadier. i dont have to be a 45 to become a brigadier do i? i dont think that i have to be a 45, but another "rank" video said that i did. im confused

@Torbyz , you have to play ranked match to get to rank 50. it takes a while, maybe a couple of years, unless your a tweak and live in your mothers basement it will take a while. If you can get to rank 10 in a ranked playlist and 100 all around exp then you should get to leiuetenant( is that spelled right?)

your overall rank is corporal but your social slayer rank is private. there are different ranks for every playlist in which you go up in like my friend is a lieutenent and his social slayer rank is lieutenent grade 3

i see now. unless u bring skill levels up , ull be the same rank for awhile because, for ex.

im a gunnery sgt.

if i just got exp and didnt bring up skill levels, it would take me for ever to get Lieutenant.

but i have 58 exp right now(almost gunnery sgt. grade 2)but if i get 70 exp.(12 exp more) and 4 more skill levels(i have 6 skill in lone wolves) i would level up to lieutenant in about an hour and a half.
