Why do I do this to myself? Make myself miserable by watching old scenes of Cassie crying and Chris dying :( Things never end up ok for my favorite characters </3
i think this is the first time she's ever eaten the apple. if you look back at past seasons you see that she always has apples, but she only carries them (like in the cafeteria scene) she never really ate them. she's finally eating the apple. i like to believe sid or adam come find her. sid came to new york, and adam left her to stay in his appt and didn't take all his stuff. i like to pray they one day came back to herm but right now she just has to go it alone.
I like to think that the apple was just a figment of her imagination, just like all the "eat" texts which she supposedly received.
Her entire life she was forced to rely only on herself. No one really loved her so she had to develop an almost schizophrenic condition in which she'd make herself believe that people cared. Adam was one of the few people to actually did feel about her and once Cassie did establish that connection with someone, he left.
when she breaks down, i cry. every single time. i understand how she feels to never be skinny enough. to never be beautiful enough. for the person you love to not give a fuck about you.
Cassie is my favorite character ever. Two seasons of shit things happening to her, not once did she cry. She is so strong, but I suppose in the end we can't avoid the fact that we're still human.
I think yall should stop arguing over what the scene means, it is supposed to mean a lot of different things to a lot of different people. it's art. it's what it's all about. just like song lyrics or poetry or a painting. so let it go, you're all right. :)
This scene isn't about her avoiding becoming a grown-up, but regretting her past and who she's become. I think the turned pictures remind her that people aren't as sinful as her and that she is unhappy with herself and her life. This is the first time that she really cries over Chris, Sid, her anorexia, and all the other problems in her life. The way she immediately ate the apple is a symbol that she easily fell into the world of drugs and sex and sinful activities, leading to her downfall.
This show is so real. I think the whole series shows that this is life this is whats going on everyday and there is nothing you can do. People are going to take drugs, have sex, and die. Life isn't all happy and cheerful. Skins is real. Your not always going to get your happy ending. This show may be screwed up, but it shows the world for what it really is.
I'd like to point out both barbie and byby basically said the same damn thing. Her accepting being an adult symbolically while taking the "forbidden fruit" from "adam" as well as her accepting all the shit she went through good, bad, and ugly is essentially the same thing. Barbie pointed out the figurative side of it and byby pointed out the blunt side of it. Two very great comments hence why they are both thumbed up i assume :P.
The last words Michelle said to Cassie were:" grow up, Cassie" and that's what she is realising now. Things change and we change with them. Eating Adam's apple as if it was from the tree of knowledge gives her the impact to have a good cry. It's unbelievable how a scene can be such powerful...
I love this scene so much. Cassie has nothing left. She was never very mentally stable but then she has a completely messed up relationship with Sid and then has Chris die in her arms. She runs away. She finds a home in Adam and then he runs away. I love this scene so much because she is finally crying and it's beautiful. As for the apple...it's a loss of innocence. She has finally accepted the Knowledge of both Good and Evil. Gone are the "oh wow"s and "lovely"s.
And then she does the only she knows how to do...run away.
I thought it was awsome that she ate the apple. because in the first season with the "Eat" meassages and when she says to Sid "oh wow i didn't eat for three days so i coul dlook lovley"...you know i don't think she said oh wow there, but i assume she did. i though she wasn't gonna eat the apple
This's not about Adam at all. She's crying for all of the things that she should've cried during the whole series, but ended up acting happy instead.
She cried cause everybody goes away in the end, cause Chris just died right in front of her and she just left him there, she's crying because she'll never be as skinny as she'd like to be and because Sid is a dumbass and doesn't deserve her and she's crying because everything is just so fucked up and there's absolutely nothing she can do about it.
@bybymc I personally don't see her crying because she'll never be as skinny as she'd like to be. I always saw her anorexia as more as way to control her life. Like when Sid asks what she does when things get fucked up on the trampoline. She says she'd stop eating. Her anorexia was just a way to cope with the chaos, and maybe a way to get attention?
@rasefin well, she did, but u know, she was alone at NY, Adam was the only friend she had right there...and well....beeing abandoned in a place u don't know anything or anyone...it might be hard?? (yah yah but she went to NY alone and stuff) ok ya she did...but she had the opportunity not to be alone at all..and the conection between adam and cassie was already really strong (:...i think it's kinda understandable :P
This scene was so emotional. I couldn't help but cry when I saw it. I just finished watching the second series of skins, and it was so amazing, I miss all of the characters, especially Chris. Not sure if I can go on to watch Season 3, because everyone will be different. The first two seasons were amazing though.
Cassie has kind of Peter Pan complex. she says there're lots of shit in the future. sounds like she doesn't wanna be a grown up.

@BarbieS2girl MAYBE, she's crying because this guy left her and is eating the apple because she is frustrated, which is something a lot of people would've done at that moment. I would've probably thrown the apple against the wall as hard as I could :/
@BarbieS2girl - That was how I had always interpreted this scene when it first aired... but I couldn't articulate it as well as you did. I've always had a certain connection with Cassie's character--- anorexia, the need to be happy in a "fantasy" world, wanting to live it up in New York and just leaving everything behind... only to find out in the end that happiness can be found within yourself only when you realize reality exists :(

totally unrealistic: there's no way you can fly to the US without providing details about your stay and your destination, and that includes an address, the reasons of your trip, and the ammount of money you can count on... as for finding nice welcoming people in NYC, that's bollocks too: it would never happen in real life
yes but come on, you have to look beneath the surface here. This whole situation they're all facing i mean how realisitc is that? How realistic is even any Tv-Show? With Cassie i think they portray what any teen feel once in a while, ´running away from everything and finding a new place even better. It's just that in this case she actually DOEes it. Damn ... this is a good scene ,,,, really sad and sentimental ... love cassie, she's so sad in here ..... I think that makes her such a great character, everything tha't she has to go trough ....
in season three they attempted to recreate aspects of Cassie with characters such as JJ and Pandora .. there can never again be another Cassie though... simple
I love that scene. It's so heart breaking but it represents Cassie so much: the eating, the sadness, being abandoned, being alone and then she runs away from it all...
I've always had great sympathy for Cassie throughout the series...It's like she can never be happy, she'll always be alone...and at the end when Sid goes to New York to find Cassie they cut it off there...they don't give us a chance to see if Sid actually found Cassie...Sid is acutally the only one whose ever been there for her right from the beginning...
Can somebody please make a vid about cassie and sid and the moving to new york thing? I know just the song for it; Marit Bergman - I miss you. It's spot on.
why cant the 3 series sucks !! if first and second where so so good, third season is horrible, they are just a bunch of stupid kids, cassie, sid.. they had alot to say, i used to love them, but the new ones.. pfff ... they have destroyed a great serie... a work of art

I love that scene. It's so heart breaking but it represents Cassie so much: the eating, the sadness, being abandoned, being alone and then she runs away from it all...

I wish we had cool shows like this over at where I live. We only have crappy love stories between 90 year olds. -_-
Cassie, such a lost angel....:(

I've always had great sympathy for Cassie throughout the series...It's like she can never be happy, she'll always be alone...and at the end when Sid goes to New York to find Cassie they cut it off there...they don't give us a chance to see if Sid actually found Cassie...Sid is acutally the only one whose ever been there for her right from the beginning...

why cant the 3 series sucks !! if first and second where so so good, third season is horrible, they are just a bunch of stupid kids, cassie, sid.. they had alot to say, i used to love them, but the new ones.. pfff ... they have destroyed a great serie... a work of art

dude, no offence, but i think every1 is just judging the 3rd series a go!
I like the 1st and 2cnd series better. If you ask me the 3rd series is more hollywood.
But it's great! And Effy is in it! You gotta luv effy!
