I am building a home shop milling machine. Can you recommend the best way to handle the slide feed mate up between the top of the spindle, and the drive pulley to facilitate a quill feed of 4"? I am leaning toward a splined 1" OD spindle into a splined sleeve wiith 2 bearings housing. Quill OD 2" inside a 3" housing sleeve. Am I on the right track? How many spline grooves, shape & depth?
