I think that the prop needs a more powerful light output and a more refelective outer material to give it a finishing aura. At this point, it looks more of a glow stick.

Yeah, the things on either side of the handle are magnetic structure things, and sometimes the plasma frays out of the sides, like in Halo: CE

well the problem of holding the plasma back could be soved cause it already is ;) only problem is to handle the plasma in a safety and constant way, cause plasma is mostly (and easiestly) produced due atomic fusion...
