Hows the neck? Chunky? How about the XV620 on the wall? Do they come set up for 9's? Are they fairly easy to set up for 11's? Sorry to ask so many questions, I am strongly considering on of the XV semi-hollows for my next tinker-toy, and neck-permitting, I would go for the 620 and have 'em throw in an A-Fatbody Bridge, an I hear the 550 is wonderful with Surf-90s, so perhaps that could be next!
@MihailTronix The second channel's sound hits the 6V6's. I'm looking at the book as I write, and my amp tech says for a fact the second channel also utilizes the power tubes.
Hey man. Why don't you place your mike in front of the amp on the sweet spot and stay away from it so we can hear the amp instead your strumming? Also your voice is really low.
@hxchip Actually the clean channell uses a real tube and it is not modeled. It's based on old super champ. It is like the old one with addition of second digital channel
I don't quite understand why people say the effects make it not a "All tube" amp. I mean, whats the difference between using pedals and built in effects? For example, would using a distortion pedal make a Blues Junior a solid state amp?
The complaint is in the fact that it is in fact a hybrid amp. The pre-amp section is digital modeling, while the power-amp section is tube. If both were tube it would be "all tube," but otherwise it can't be labeled as such. Doesn't mean it sounds bad though....
That's technically correct. The pre-amp section of the SCXD is all digital, and that hits the tube phase inverter which feeds the tube power amp (output) section. The circuitry is much like Line 6's Spider Valve series in certain regards.
The clean channel appears to utilize the amp's voice #4 which is modeled after a classic Fender Blackface amp as a voice preset.
I'm a big fan of the Super Champ. It is AWESOME for recording. I recently upgraded to all JJ Tesla tubes (12AX7 and 6V6S) and popped an Eminence Ragin Cajun 10" in there, and I'll tell you what, I thought it was good before, but that little bastard screams now. Highly recommended upgrade to a highly recommended amp.
Can you plug this into your orange 2x12? I was gonna use this while i save up for either an orange tiny terror, ad30, ad50, OR save up a shit load and get a marshall plexi, but I need to make sure this thing can plug into a cab first.
You would be amazed what sound improvements would come if you upgrade that guitar!!! These guitars are awesome but can be expounded on! If you put push pulls, new nut, new pickups, new bridge, and for stability new locking tuners you could barely put down the guitar!
hey man thats an awesome demo there. Check out my video, im using a XV-560 w/P90s leave some feed back. Also skip to like 1:30, i started around that time.
what amp settings are you using

If the pre-amp is digital, shouldn't that mean its super clean as opposed to distorted?

Does the super champ have reverb??

Its so weird. You sound pretty bad doing rhythm work until you kick into a fast lick at 3:10. And then I'm like Whoa. Great Tone for the Jazz too.

So, even the "clean" channel is never truly "clean" because it is ran through digital modeling?

dive right in there boys. figure out how to set up your own guitar. intonating a guitar costs nothing but a little of your time.

Hows the intonation on the xaviere?
Do chords stay intonated past the 7th fret?Seems like a really cool guitar - maybe im asking too much for the price?
Are those .10 's ?

I've got the XV-500, but I'm contemplating the XV-500 or the new XV-900...the 335 clone.
What color is your XV-550? Is that the honeyburst?
Sounds very good, by the way.
