Awesome. Several great alternate tunings for one of the necks is open G for STones songs and the Frank Gambale tuning for an interesting approach to a different keys using traditional chord shapes.
@acdchiway2hell It would be very difficult to do an acoustic double neck. The brace pattern on the top would be so wierd and precise so it could handle the pull of the strings (cedar and spruce are very weak woods). It has been done but it would take a while to draw up a brace pattern that wouldn't kill the tone.
Dude, great job! Man, ive gotta say that looks like it could be Gibson quality! That is just truly amazing, i love how ur guitar looks! Id like to try this sometime onmy own, many if a ew years wen i have the money to afford 2 guitars.
i have to re-upload this video because the audio got cut out due to some copyright stuff. But if the audio was there, i say in the vid that i bought an electric 12 string set of strings, and i put the lower octave on the bottom, and the upper octave on the top neck. i made a vid explaining how its wired but i should just draw up a diagram and post it on my profile. Unfortunately i wont be able to do that untill atleast november around thanksgiving, im at college.
what goes after I sand the wood? tell me what to do between the sanding and the polishing and HOW MANY COATS of each thing, after the sanding goes the prymer, then the paint and then...... and then the polishing to give a glass finish, isn't it? someone help me!
REALLY impressive, man! Great paint is hard to do and the final product looks terrific. I do wish there was sound tho. I hope it plays as good as it looks!
yeah but thew whole point is it is cheaper but i wouldnt use old bodies like them cos they go for hundreds on ebay. i would use new bodies which are very cheap
@randomjunkguy Honestly I would rather have two six string necks or a seven and a six. I don't think an electric should have a 12 string neck but that's just my opinion. When I build double necks for my customers I charge extra is they want a 12 all mine come standard with 2 6 strings or 1 6 and 1 seven. Mine is 2 6 strings so I can tune to C sharp and drop C.
looks like one is made of ply wood i am making a double neck too but i am cutting out the wood and all i was going to do the same thing but i want to build it all
thats awesome but other than lookin cool the point of a double neck is to have a 12 string and a 6 string.and the headstocks should be the same color in my opinion but sweet job anyway i wish i could do that kind of stuff
dude thats cool i personal would not dare to do that risk two guitars like that thats cool how did you get the original finish off was it dye or some kind of plastic coating .sanding? and how did you get the new finish. looks like jimi's strat
WHAT IS THE NAME OF THE SONG & ARTIST PLAYING IN THE BACKGROUND? IT'S NOT WAR INSIDE MY HEAD.

heres an idea man
you seem like a zeppelin fan...
you can do one in standard tuning
and another in DADGAD (tuning for Kashmir, White Summer, Etc.)
Nice Job ROCK ON!!
LedWolf7 8 months ago
my heart droped when you cut those guitars in half
but the way you made the double, I feel so much better
LedWolf7 9 months ago
Absolutely -- two different tunings. Look up Acoustic Eidelon and watch Joe play both necks at the same time! It's awesome.

Hey man, I wanna do that as well; I got 2 strat body's laying around.
But you got 2x a 6 string ? what are the good sides of this? cause normally they are 1x 6 string 1 x 12 string.
Another question, how did you do the wiring. you can switch between both guitars?

well, you can use pretty much anything, id just stay away from polyeurethane because it ruins the sound and doesnt let the wood breathe

i used a squire strat, and a silvertone strat look-alike. as you can tell, its not high quality, since the body was made out of ply wood lol
