I profoundly agree with your comment at 19:00. I believe it is erroneous to label the Ashkenazim as "Westernized" or "Europeanized" Jews. The converse is true in my opinion; much of "Western" or "European" civilization (Music, Science, Finance, Law, etc) was contributed by the Jews living there.

@Flickchaser, Aramaic and Hebrew are two different languages, but they're related to each other. The Jewish people in the Apostolic era used both Hebrew and Aramaic. Estrangelo is Aramaic, not Hebrew script. Enjoy your lessons! :)
