The "rubber" propeller is a result of what's known as "rolling shutter" or "line scan" effect in digital photography.There's a great description of the phenomenon at Wikipedia if you search: rolling shutter.
That is a very cool engine but the prop looks really strange. Looks like it is made out of rubber and bending. I know it isn't, but it looks funny none the less. Thanks for posting the video though as it is a great engine.

its moving too fast for the camera to capture the rotations of the propelar. most cameras only capture at 30 fps
