i have the pigtronix, but i just don't understand why it doesn't work with me! when i play, the release hardly last for a couple of seconds, so i don't have that sustained "faded in" sound, violin-type that i love...and the release doesn't have to turn off as long as i play a note? (sensitivity seems to have no real matter)...am i stupid or my pedal isn't alright?
It took me quite awhile before I figured the pedal out. It would be impossible to tell what's going on with your setup unless I could see exactly what you are doing. One thing I wold suggest is making sure the "blend" knob is turned all the way clockwise. It has to be turned all the way to the right, mixing out all of your direct signal. That way you get only the effect which should then allow you to get that cool fade-in sound. Also, check out the pro guitar shop demo for further tips.
I should have been more specific... the HOG has a Freeze function that you control with the epxression pedal. That has the "infinite freeze" if you desire. Its pretty cool. The Attack/Sustain pedal has a wicked compressor that can sustain single notes really well - especially when you are playing thru an amp cranked up a little bit. The HOG sounds more synthetic but you can sustain a note or whole chord forever and play on top of it.
hey analogger, I'm a relatively traditional guitarist looking to have some fun with my clean sound and create some bigger soundscapes, would you recommend the EHX POG for my purposes?
Yes...the POG is very cool - but, for a little extra dough the HOG does tons more stuff...especially with the included expression pedal. The HOG really shines with a clean signal, as does the POG. I think you would probably have fun with either unit!
I did thoroughly consider the HOG, but I'm really into the shimmering sound you get from the detuner sliders on the POG. If the HOG had that, then it'd be great..but apparently that's not the case.
I'd say the HOG's probably better value for money, but I just can't get enough of that shimmery 12-stringyness!
I really like the AdrenaLinn. I would like to have one someday. I'm really looking forward to the drum machine he is doing with Dave Smith - one version will be available with a four voice analog synth.
It's a pretty cool device. I just ordered my upgrade to go from the Adrenalinn I, II to the Adrenalinn III. Check out some of the new sound examples on the Roger Linn webpage. SoundTown has an editor for the device, also; making it easier to program. I'm going to check out the Dave Smith unit you mention. Thanks for the tip and again great video.
You should hop onto the AdrenaLinn forum if you haven't yet, it's linked from Roger's site, I just put up some info on how to control all the new features in real-time using a modded FCB 1010 MIDI foot controller. Not trying to hijack your comments Analogger, lol, just get excited when folks are into this sort thing :)
So glad I found your stuff Analogger, cool, now I have lots to check out and watch! I run the AdrenaLinn forum for Roger, can't wait to play with LinnDrumII and see what Dave and Roger come up with. The new moog pedal controller looks interesting too, I have some vids up that I use AdrenaLinn on, I play a 2-stringed bowed instrument through it, as well as the Foogers... I like the beat sync'd stuff, the new moog pedal seems to be able to do that, but looks like you're already doing it :)
WE WONT GET FOOLED AGAIN..!

I am waiting for somebody to do an Electro-Harmonix HOG vs. Pigtronix Mothership, or maybe even see how they would work together.

This would be a great sountrack for one of Billy Blazes' Tae Bo workouts.

does this pedal hold notes for a long period of time or what effect would you recomened to sustain notes?
jonguitarist 4 years ago
yes, the "freeze" function will sustain a note or chord for as long as you want, allowing you to play on top of it.
Analogger 4 years ago
im sorry but which of the two is the one that freezes to sustain notes!

Then yes, the POG is really the way to go!

Sounds nice. I can do stuff like that with my AdrenaLinn. Thanks for the video.
