SELCO India, Affordable solar home systems - Ashden Award winner

I'd like to go 100% Solar. Don't want to be part of a Grid that uses nuclear energy which causes birth defects, thyroid cancers in children and drives people from their homes when there is an accident besides polluting our beautiful planet with deadly radiation of thousands of years! I don't need the bad Karma!

I like it. I am thinking whether setting up solar panels at home for for totally depending on it for low-power appliances like light(CFL), fan, TV, sound system, desktop/laptop etc will be a viable economic proposition. Total installed capacity is about 1 kw. Please comment and suggest solutions. I live at a suburb of Kolkata WB in Chandannagar Municipal Corporation.
