If you and I had the financial resources and contacts that the celebrities have we'd be accepted by society as a whole as well. Money opens both doors and minds. I have 175 people (straight and gay) who work for me and as I sign their pay checks they accept me very well, most especially every second Friday.

Celebrities are charasmatic and attractive. People like charasmatic / attractive people. I don't know if that necessarily means they are more "accepted" for being gay than the average person, that's hard to judge.
