  • This is one of my all time favourite songs by Rick Springfield and I absolutely love the video. It has a lot of dramatic elements in it like when the woman playing his wife is frustrated and angry because she doesn't want to be in Beirut any longer since there is a lot of violence going on. She gets frustrated and walks out on him until he catches up with her and shelters her in the end of the video where they continue coping with their miserable honeymoon. The ending is beautiful.

  • He does say "emotional buttholes in the wall." It wouldn't make sense if he sang "bulletholes.

  • I just finished reading his book " Late, Late at Night " this song is about the death of his beloved father. He has had quite a life dealing with his Depression. I have a great deal of respect for you Rick because I also suffer from depression.

  • @perpetual61 No it isnt...its about his arriage and how bad the marriage was at the time.

  • I used to think he said "emotional buttholes in the wall"... Oops...

  • Love this song.

  • It's rather obvious in this video, dude really does get off on beating up women. All in the eyes. Great lyrics, nevertheless.

  • @1eyegreen read his book "Late, Late at Night" and you will get an understanding of the pain his heart was in while he wrote this song...it's a good read
