Here we go again... middle class .... plum in mouth... lovely surroundings... pressed clothes..... look at them chairs... expencive fancy hair doo's ........
Next time I suggest talking in a dust bath and covering yourselves in sacloth and ashes as you speak. We are in for a hell ride of either fighting fundamentalism tooth and nail or all going down in a screaming heap. Anyway.... nice start.
Though it is true that God chooses to be persuasive in relationships that does not limit His power. He chooses to not effect change that interferes with free will; however, it is by His power we maintain existance [all things were created & all things have their being]. Scripture does indeed say God is almighty i.e. omnipotent and this goes to the heart of the Judeo-Christian faith.

These two nutcases have both drank way too much of their own Kool-Aide. God is Almighty (His words). Jesus said He rose with ALL power in His hand. God IS Omnipotent, Omni-present and Omniscient. Plz don't be fooled by Satan speaking in soft tones..he is still a liar!
well if you understand power as relational/persuasive as opposed to coersive then an understanding of Jesus as ALL powerful while not omnipotent is completely comprehensible.
The doctrine of omnipotence was expounded and accepted as dogma by theologians and philosophers over the last 2000 years after Christ's life. That cannot be denied, even if you point out Scriptures on which those arguments are based.
St. Thomas Aquinas said that; "The Divine Omnipotence must NOT be taken as the power to effect any imaginable thing, but only the power to effect what is within the nature of things." It is a serious Theological Mistake to believe that God has the power to effect ANY IMAGINABLE THING. If you believe this, you are just mistaken. However, that doesn't mean God doesn't have power, far from it, but God's power is the power to effect what is within the nature of things.
You can sustain all that is but can't lift paper? Suppose I don't believe that god exists?

Supposedly, God had the power to create the universe. Now the story is that he doesn't have the power to lift a sheet of paper?
