The entire point of the song and the sound was the desperation and distance created from humanity by the synthpop ambiance of the original.

This is a new-age trash twist which makes the lyrics bland, unmemorable, and otherwise was a waste of the 45 which it took, approximately, for me to say my pace about it.

The Gregorian project is no real monks...it is producers-drivern "project" that hires different singers...they have ben on WMG..I used to work for WMG...the singers themselves told me the album´s vocals were recorded within 3 days with a lot of mistakes that a non-trained ear cannot hear.
