yo! i'm mystified that there is no video of "Since Love was Charmed away from me" by the Ashley Hutchings Dance Band on Youtube. i said this a long time ago & its still not "rectified"...???
I'm having trouble distinguishing the corn flakes box from the other guitar. I'm guessing the thin, buzzing one with apparently-infinite sustain is the corn flakes, and the hard, staccato Telecaster sound is the other one. Or is the other way around? Maybe I'm completely mixed up. Thanks for any info.
Note the much younger Ashley Hutchins - red hair & all!! Still going strong 25 years later on Lark Rise Band & Rainbow Chasers both touring UK this year and very well worth seeing live.
Well, that's a better view than I got at the time...I'm out there somewhere, fell in love with the festival that year, and I've been every year since. Great times...great music. And the beer's not bad at all...
Does anyone remember Cathy singing what I think was called, 'The Day We Went to Bangor?' I remember seeing her singing on the 'Whit Tour' with the Great Western Morris (Exeter). She was great.
@eyeball226 The guitar was made from a cornflakes box by Rob Armstrong. I know this because Rob is a friend of mine and he showed me the guitar a few days before he handed it over to Simon. Type "Rob Armstrong" in your search box and you will see a few more of his guitars. If you type the name of another friend of mine, Martin Jenkins, in your search box you will see he is playing an Armstrong mando-cello. Rob has created some beautiful instruments over the years.
As beautiful as a rose............

Cathy had an absolutely amazing voice live. Her vocal performances always sounded flat and lifeless on record or CD in comparison.

Wow, I like the Albion Band. The cornflakes box guitar, is it actually made from a cornflakes box or is it painted like that?

Looks like a real cornflakes box to me, with a Les Paul neck.

Yes, 'Day Trip To Bangor' was a hit single for 'Fiddler's Dram' most of whom went on to form The Oyster Band (Oysterband).
