Star Fox 64 may have had better graphics, fixed gameplay, and balanced difficulty, but there is one thing that the SNES version had over the 64: The music.
I still don't understand why Nintendo didn't keep this theme. To me, this is the TRUE Star Fox theme. The current one doesn't even come close in terms of epicness!
Gives me memories of back in 1993 when I first played this classic. It felt so real as if I was in space for the very first time. The imagination of a small 7 year old kid is amazing.
My memory is fuzzy now - Did Kondo compose the music for the first starfox? Whoever did was an amazing composer...when performed by an orchestra, it rivals John William's Superman/Star Wars/Indiana Jones themes!
@Xozona kondo did not compose the music of the first starfox, it was Hajime hirasawa, I'm not sure he continued working for nintendo after, maybe that's why they didn't use those wonderful themes in the later episodes...
If you played and loved the original StarFox on the SNES stare at the Arwing behind the gang...you will half expect it to spin in the background and your eyes will trick you into thinking it will.
the funny thing is, there's a similar updated version used in a few of the more recent star fox games XD
though not as high quality, given that this is done by a real band, and the version in the games is synthesized. but the VG synths have gotten pretty close to sounding exactly like the real instruments lately :3
Nintendo focuses on kiddie games and we grow up but still enjoy things of the past because we're like that. Does it now make sense why you're 30 and don't like Nintendo games anymore? they should make a star fox game for wii with the motionplus where you hold the remote and nunchuk like actual fighter pilot controls. and make it in first person too.
dude has anyone ever read the 1992 verson comics of Star Fox before the SNES verson came out? the story is the same in away but at different time thowe. but its better then the ones we had now besides dinosaur planet if they could just go back to those origins and make it like a good movie with 1990 anime like treasure planet and Titan A.E. style. it could be good for an american made movie even make it like a pg-13 movie cause we all know we teenagers have atleast known starfox with zelda rite?
@dexterme ya it was nintendo power was it 1992? lol and sry if i sent this message again if i did but i think i didnt but was it SNES arwings in the comic as well?
whenever i hear this i start wishing why cant nintendo make an awesome anime with orchestral versions of the slower songs and synth versions of the upbeat songs as the soundtrack. WITH A FUCKING PROPER DUBBING!
There's just something about this song. Or maybe in particular this remix/orchestration. It just gives me such a warm feeling like this is a really really good TV show like superman or somehting...
Dude the first 50 seconds or so totally sounds like Super Mario Galaxy as well as many other parts. Chill inducing to the max, glad that they reused the song in another fantastic galactic setting. Still, they need to make another great Star Fox game for Wii.
Starfox is one of those unique franchises, I have yet to see another franchise to have furries as characters. You notice every other game all characters are human or alien but never like Starfox characters? It depresses me though that Starfox is losing its luster, ever since Krystal came into play the franchise is sloppy. I say they kill her and go back to the roots of what made this franchise great!!!!
That one, Star Fox Adventures, was actually not all that bad. Assault and Command are just boring and stupid. Come on Nintendo, give us the good old days of Star Fox. I feel like a life time friend of mine has died.
Oh what happened to Star Fox. It's like they tossed him in the closet all tied up and said "Your not coming out until the next Smash Bros game which won't be for another 15 years. And while your in here we'll make millions selling games that aren't even REAL games...MUhahahahahahah"
Oh hold on a second I'm getting a phone call from Nintendo... Hello... What do you mean I know your secret! Wait what! your sending a troop of miis to come kill me before I post this! WHat...wait are those...Ahhh!
Yeah it does in a way. This might have been something that Jerry Goldsmith might have come up with.
Actually, If you listen to Jerry Goldsmith's Star Trek ending credits pieces: The Motion Picture, The Final Frontier, First Contact, Insurrection, and Nemesis, you could actually imagine the Star Fox theme playing instead of the Star Trek one, because they're composed almost the same way.

original sound even though it was low quality still brought out the best in the sequuence of the original comapred to this. but atleast this game concert tried.
This was a time when video games had musical scores as epic as movies. Now we have a bunch of bullshit songs by no-talent bands who no one will remember in 5 years.
RDarth are you kidding? ^^ Play some Twilight Princess, Resident Evil 5, Oblivion, Fallout 3, Fable 2, and many many more. There you'll find some excellent compositions.

No, it's in there, I think it's called Starfox Main Theme if you look under My Music. It's actually done pretty well, you might like it! :)

This is very John Williamsy sounding, both the orchestration and the tunes. Very nice, I love the arrangement.

I was just thinking that, it reminds me specifically of the Superman march a bit, with a little Star Wars as well.

This makes the hairs on my arm stand up.

Thou i agree that this arrengement is a masterpiece of it's own ^^ The memories!

Never noticed how similar the StarFox arrangement is to Skies of Arcadia
cronofox 3 years ago 2
I like this particular instrumental arrangement. It has a more refined, classical feel to it.
