You know, I've watched this tons of times, but somehow, this always manages to make me tear up at the beauty of this. She's such a beautiful person, inside and out. Every day I take a moment to stop and think about how much she has done for the world, how much she's changed my life.
People who don't have technical musical knowledge think she's a terrific pianist, but her piano skills are pretty mediocre. I've been taking piano lessons for 8 years now, and it's clear to me she's a mediocre pianist. I admit her voice sounds great though.

I've never seen Madonna play an instrument like Gaga does, or even sing like Gaga does. She dances better than Gaga, though. But she also lip-syncs in her concerts, something that Gaga doesn't do.
Madonna led a huge revolution in the 80's, but Gaga is a more complete artist musically speaking.

This appears to be the first video recording of her doing this piece acoustically? She does it again June 21, 2009 in Australia and then the very famous recording in the Capital FM Radio studios on October 17, 2009. I was first introduced to this piece at the very famous 2009 MTV VMA bloody mess performance. I had no way of knowing that the song had so much potential.

@douginny Madonna was quite the shock entertainer herself, though her shock was more sexual. The "dumb costume and dumb show" aren't dumb at all and don't "dilute" Gaga's power as a great musician, it adds to it. Regardless, strip away everything and Lady Gaga kills Madonna in vocal prowess and performance. Madonna has been around for many years and I respect her for that but she was a mediocre singer at best and didn't even write most of her songs until her third or fourth album.
she DOES make this kind of music people. the piano music. look up "brown eyes" "you and I" "living on the radio" but people these days just want dancy songs.

@cristinalovesparamor She often makes little mistakes when playing the piano, but in my opinion this makes her performances more and more interesting. She seems to improvise, to be looking for variations, and you have to be a great performer to do that live

i'm honestly impressed!!! you know i've never actually liked her songs and the whole persona she'd created. i just didn't take her serious as a performer, and thought she'd just be another fad, making mediocre soul-less music to feed the masses. but i've officially revised this opinion, i'm still not a fan, though. ;) but i'm quiet appreciative of her obvious talent and the things she's done so far for the gay community and actually all people out there that feel like they don't quiet belong. :)

She got lucky, because all those 'older' pop tarts are respected. Jeez it's not like Madonna invented Pop. My mom grew up listening to Madonna, she heard over the years Madonna slept around to get where she is.
Makes me mad, Gaga is being bullied left, right and center. New musicians these days have it hard, seems everyone is being compared to the older generations of musicians.
I want Gaga to stay strong and show the world she is here to stay!

Are you kidding me? I love Lady Gaga and I love Madonna. If this was Lady Gaga, then you would have an argument. This is Lady Gaga at her most powerful, sitting in front of her instrument. Without the dumb costume and dumb show that do nothing but dilute the power of her essence as a great songwriter and musician. I saw her concert and it doesn't hold a candle to Madonna's. EXCEPT when she takes off the dumb costume and gives to the audience what matters most--the MUSIC!

@douginny Madonna was quite the shock entertainer herself, though her shock was more sexual. The "dumb costume and dumb show" aren't dumb at all and don't "dilute" Gaga's power as a great musician, it adds to it. Regardless, strip away everything and Lady Gaga kills Madonna in vocal prowess and performance. Madonna has been around for many years and I respect her for that but she was a mediocre singer at best and didn't even write most of her songs until her third or fourth album.

@hobatu your comment is sober and equable. Madonna has made beautiful songs and built several powerful icons. But if I compare her to Gaga, I feel like I am comparing a smart advertisment to a Tarantino's movie, to a Warhol.s painting. The point is that Gaga creates music and plays in a creative way. Madonna cannot do that. As for MJ, yes he was the best performer ever

@cristinalovesparamor She often makes little mistakes when playing the piano, but in my opinion this makes her performances more and more interesting. She seems to improvise, to be looking for variations, and you have to be a great performer to do that live
