insurance goes up because of Huge Fraud and it is estimated 5 to 10% of the billions spent on insurance is stolen thru fraud. So regulation would be one thing to help. Another thing could be tort reform, so doctors cannot be sued at the drop of a hat and insurance will go down. Open intertste commerce for insurance comapnies too so they can compete accross state lines. All of that will drive it DOWN.

What I find sad about this is that we already have a universal health care system in place (of sorts). What do people think Medicaid and Medicare are? What about people who receive SSI? America's tax dollars are paying for these programs. Although not the greatest, they work. Food for thought: Who picks up the prescription cost for other countries having universal health care coverage? America pays more for prescriptions than other countries. Why is that?
Well, actually, all countries with "socialized" medicine have higher quality of life, longer life span and lower infant mortality than us. And they don't have this money problem.
My point I was trying to make is we as Americans are paying greater prescriptions prices to make up for the profit they are not receiving by charging an arm and a leg.

Medical costs are the number one cause of bankruptcy in America. Giving the people free health care will only help more people keep their homes and their jobs. It's not the county hospitals that need financial aid, it's the patients. The people who can't afford medical insurance and the people who can't afford their medical bills even with medical insurance. Reforming health care is not going to "dump" another trillion dollars that we don't have into the economy. Obama has said numerous times that he will only accept a deficit neutral bill. In other words, it can't cost more money than we're willing to cut from other areas of the budget.
Obama has promised alot of things and delivered on little. Hes a great politician in that he knows how to say what he needs to say when he needs to say it. He's not going to cut anything; he's going to raise taxes. His advisers are already saying that tax increases are coming, so be ready for it. We have no budget, our GDP is equal to that of our debt in one year; we have to borrow and we cant pay it back.

The amendment was brought up to prove that the GOP is NOT really against a government plan, because that is exactly what Medicare is. Hypocrits beyond belief!

We pay a small fee called National insurance contributiuons which are about £3 a week ( I suppose thats about $5 and it covers us 100%

insurance goes up because of Huge Fraud and it is estimated 5 to 10% of the billions spent on insurance is stolen thru fraud. So regulation would be one thing to help. Another thing could be tort reform, so doctors cannot be sued at the drop of a hat and insurance will go down. Open intertste commerce for insurance comapnies too so they can compete accross state lines. All of that will drive it DOWN.

What I find sad about this is that we already have a universal health care system in place (of sorts). What do people think Medicaid and Medicare are? What about people who receive SSI? America's tax dollars are paying for these programs. Although not the greatest, they work. Food for thought: Who picks up the prescription cost for other countries having universal health care coverage? America pays more for prescriptions than other countries. Why is that?

The people who can't afford medical insurance and the people who can't afford their medical bills even with medical insurance. Reforming health care is not going to "dump" another trillion dollars that we don't have into the economy. Obama has said numerous times that he will only accept a deficit neutral bill. In other words, it can't cost more money than we're willing to cut from other areas of the budget.

Obama's plan offers a "public option" that will slowly turn into a socialized system once the market is manipulated by his plan. Private companies will run out of business and more people will lose their private health care and turn to the Governments plan which will eventually put pressure on the Government to spend more money and raise taxes to cover the American people! To B0V1C3: It was on C-Span during a healthcare mark-up session on the Energy & Commerse committee. The amendment was brought forward by a New York Rep, last name Weiner. (I think he is from NY, but not positive.). I will keep looking for vid on this! Everyone voted against removing medicare. The amendment was brought up to prove that the GOP is NOT really against a government plan, because that is exactly what Medicare is. Hypocrits beyond belief!

We pay a small fee called National insurance contributiuons which are about £3 a week ( I suppose thats about $5 and it covers us 100%
Sure, we also have the private option if we want and we can pay for that if we wanted to, but at least we do not get turned away from anywhere because we are not insured.

Democratic leaders often say that the party is diverse, rather than monolithic like the Republicans. But what they dont say is that this is an excuse for not being able to get anything done. My guess is its special interest money. All the signs point to Conservadems not wanting universal healthcare, energy independence, education reform, or environmental initiatives because they are beholding to the status quo. So lets work to get rid of them.
