  • i was trying the tapping riff, and realised paul's pinkie is unnaturally long...

  • @Dorianpod77

You are correct in saying that the two notes clash, what the trick is, is not to move the index finger itself but 'roll' the pressure across the finger. That way you minimise finger movement = speed, but also deaden the string that you aren't playing = no clashing notes

It can be a difficult technique to learn but once you get the hang of it playing arpeggios becomes easy... Hope this helps :)

  • @bobGuitarMancliffe After seeing the part again while focusing on Paul's index finger (boy that sounded perverted) I notice how he, as you're talking about "shifting pressure in the index finger" which is exactly what he is doing as well as I am doing for most parts where I have to switch between two strings, because switching the index finger and hit the strings individually is way too inefficient than just baring the finger and shifting the focused pressure.

  • @bitchslapper12 all is right in the world, btw, all your videos are like gold dust, I've been watching them for about 6 hours over the last few days, thanks for uploading them :)

  • @bobGuitarMancliffe Thank you! I really appreciate feedback!

  • This was the last song I was expecting Paul to enjoy playing the most in the record... I thought it was Paul vs Godzilla!

  • when playing the part from 4:46 to 4:50 how can i stop the sound of the b B string notes so that they don't mix with the other notes?? is driving me crazy... Paul is just doing a 2 strings bar with his index but i don't see him doing anything special to stop the string.... maybe i need some pedal or some effect?? please help me :))

  • @dorianpod77 I guess the fastest answer until I can give you a correct one is just palm mute (P.M) that's all I can say!

  • @bitchslapper12 Thank u for answering me! i'll give it a try...

  • What is the smaller Marshall amp on top of the white stack?? The little black one...what is it????

  • pgm 301 it think

  • crying tones!!

  • "there's a certain amount of panic in playing electric guitar -oh my god I can't control this thing and it's going BFFFFFFFFFFFFF" lol hes mad bro i tell you

  • The moving amp in the background is an evidence that he is an alien with an advanced technology with an insane guitar skills... BEAST!!!

  • ... your audio and video is awesome, but Paul is the reason. Stop asking for comments and stars and you might get some ?! ... your work will speak for itself :) ... then you can smile !!

  • you are the man mister

  • Regarding the heavy metal distortion and not being able to stop, can't he use a noise gate? :P

  • question this guitar is res issued right? cause i m thinking bout picking one of these bad boys up

  • PHANTOM MARSHAL STACK NOOO

    hahaha

  • I think those amps were edited in, ever part they move around.

  • He always looks so ever young! in his guitar playing and spirit!

  • I love PAUL GILBERT

    BUT

How in the hell can he play with that nasty huge heel that hogs up the neck from the 15 fret up to the 24th?

  • stretching from the 7th to the 12th is nothing to him...

  • @P34V3Y7 ehm. For me neither xD 7 to 12 isnt that far, but he does a lot more insane streches, that are even impossible for "normal human beings ;)

  • @Danje1 oh dont get me wrong, its not challenge for me either (more tiring than anything to do something like that repetitively). but his fingers treat it like nothing. if youve seen any of my videos on here youd be able to see just how small my hands are haha. im like that dude on the BK commercials. my pinky is about one centimeter from 2 inches long... thats it lol.

  • @PhunkyCat What did he say about the weather then? :P Is he easy to talk with? :)

  • his playing is amazing its like watching a modern Mozart

  • I'm going crazy, I swear that amp is moving.

  • @moooocat that's because he's playing in front of a blue-screen and not in front of any amp...

  • @moooocat

    special video effect

    or its really floating...

or its some kind of flying marshall amp...

    LOL....

  • @moooocat it is obviously on a bluescreen/greenscreen

  • Does anyone notice that that PGM has a single coil in the neck position? What model is that one anyone PLEASE? That would be the one i would want.

  • PGM301

  • @bitchslapper12 Actually it´s a custom pgm301 that was made with a single coil in the neck, especially for paul, i´ts not available in that configuration, Damn!

  • @bitchslapper12 thats not pgm 301. pgm 301 still has humbucker on the neck. that is the new pgm, don't know the name yet, and paul said that it has 2% smaller f-holes lol :-)

  • @bitchslapper12 I think its 302, 300 has an Edge in the bridge HSH, the 301 is stop tail HSH and 302 is SSH

  • @ducky811 Its a custom shop 301, you cant buy it. Infact you cant even buy a production 301 new anymore.

  • dat hippie strap is dope

  • He is so awesome things in the same room as him starts to float in the air. Just watch the amp.

  • the marshall amp is moving!

  • nice! love the song uhh did anyone else noticing the amps moving?

  • Don't wanna sound like an idiot...I've seen Paul in Bucharest (Romania) and he played a Marshall Modern Vintage combo...I would like to know if the distorsion comes from that amp or some distorsion pedal. Can anyone help me out?

  • HBE bajo mos

    Xotic AC Booster

    Xotic RC Booster

These are the pedals he uses! After some research I finally found out that these three are the ones he currently uses only.

  • In the first video there is a fulltone ocd clearly visible on the pedal board. ;) Search google for fulltone ocd paul gilbert there should be a link to jemsite 'How Paul sets up his rig'

    cheers

  • @petreamurg It comes from the amp. The pedals are for boost he said that on an interview.

  • emi gilbert's fingers is fast and weird too like paul....

  • i love how his amps are like floating

  • 3:18 to 3:20 most funny thing i ve seen in my whole life hahahahahahahahahahaha

  • "omg its taking off mmmhhhwaa" thats why paul IS the greatest hes such a funny MF i could see his vids being entertaining even fro ppl who dont play guitar

  • i like his amplifier... very nice.. i must have that one

  • pictured is a RR, but he plays a vintage modern now, after switching from laney's

  • ive seen vids of him playing an RR, I think he puts his vintage modern into the RR

  • Which pickups???

  • Dimarzio Tone Zone in the bridge and two ibanez single coils.

  • I have read that is some of the PGM ibanez uses two paf pro.

  • yes but in a video he says that this guitar has a tone zone in the bridge and two ibanez single coils.

  • @KrillerHAHA I think they were two single coils from the cheapest ibanez stock guitars they had a few years back

I seem to remember him saying it on some video

  • that one does

  • u would be right

2 of them have PAF pros

1 uses three area 67 singles

and another has 2 air classics

  • paul ha gli ampli dotati di vita propria

  • It's actually been scientifically proven that if you disperse your time to around 20 minutes a day you will see better improvement then playing 10 hours one day a week.

  • wat do ya mean by disperse??

  • It means to spread out.

  • but if you practice 10 hours a day, every day you will improve even more!!!

  • well playing for 10 hours a day is 70 a week, which is 280 a month, which is

3360 a year, which would take 4-5 years lol

  • I think he means 20 minutes per day throughout the week and playing for 10 one day a week like 10 hours every friday,

  • the michelin man and paul gilbert are physical opposites. lol some how they still go nicely together.

  • floating amp...i need one

  • lol moving greenscreen

  • This is def my fav song on this album next to "The Gargoyle!"

  • thousands of hours of practice paid off

  • Ever heard that old adage? "10,000 hours of practise and youre a profesional!"

  • exactly.

if you do anything for 10,000 hours, you will be good at it.

  • really? o.o

  • Hey, i did the maths - I've been playing for 5 years and have played approximatly 3,500 hours. Nearly halfway there!

  • seriously nice post slappa! 10* and added to my fav's!

    tanx :o)

    -pieces-

  • Thanks Gab :)

  • PG is awesome!. 5 star!

  • does anyone else miss seeing the pgm 301 ?

  • Why Is The Cabinet Moving?

  • is this shot in front of a green screen??? and composed together?!

  • No, Paul Gilbert's playing is just so awesome that it can make regular objects feel the POWAH and makes them move around.

  • Its like in Drangonball Z when they start charging up and stuff starts levitating around them - Paul has a power level of ONE BILLION!!

  • @hermitette IT´S OVER 9000!!!!! :D
