no porsche... the engine sound is too loud (rear engine) and it doesn´t sound like a flat 6... i tink its a "normal" v8 maybe audi r8?!? shifting sounds like a dsg or so... porsches gt3 only comes with a manual 6 speed
It sounds like the gear changes are too fast to be a manual, so therefore it's a an auto of some sort or double-clutch type box. I'm pretty sure GT3's only come in manuals (correct me if I'm wrong) so I was thinking a lambo of some sort although it does sound V8-ish at times. Whatever it is, it's very quick.
good camera is only half way to good video...you need to know how to prepare video...here is some nice driving, nice car, nice road and hurt when viewer cant enjoy because low video quality.
camera is to low, sound is crap. I cant understand how someone have 10000000000$ for car and cant pay for good camera and mic. Car is brutal, but video is very bad.
I'm fairly sure it's a V10 and as I found out it had a manual gearbox. In here we've only got SMG on M5 and M6. So a Gallardo could be it...or a Viper!
It's Steve Sutcliffe of Autocar driving a Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera on a road in Wales. The road was closed at the time specifically for this run so no laws broken!
visibility from the driver's viewpoint would be far better than what the camera sees, and also as previously stated the low camera view makes it seem mopre intense than it probably was so really it's not that dangerous. I reckon maybe it's near Middleton in Teesdale or alston moor or something?
This looks like the road Top Gear use on the Isle of Mann, there are no speed limits on the island. No way would Autocar put up a video of a car breaking any speed limits. Driving is a tad wreckless though. The low down camera angle makes it seem faster, the way the car is being thrown into corners would, as lukescham states, a caterham.
i dont know which car ir is but i know that it would work much faster if the driver would be later on the brakes and faster in the corners. he doesnt push the car to the limit
If you could drive any car down that road quicker I'd be amazed. Late braking etc. are fine for trackdays but you really don't want to do it on the road in anything with any performance.
But you have to give yourself a safety margin though- you may know the road, you may be Jean Ragnotti, but you can't account for the sheep in the middle of the road, or the patch of diesel, or the broken down car.
caterham...0-60 seemed under 3 seconds. no wheel spin and very very low to the ground (I know it is the camera mounting) but it would be mounted to something solid like the frame.
something about the tags? its got ferrari, lambo, caterham, aston, maserati, lotus...
IF! it is one of them, my best guess would be a Gallardo(Superleggera, LP560-4 etc)...There's non of that ferrari whine/purr(thats how I call it), none of that AMV8 howl, nothing from maser sounds like that.
Also, seeing the fifth gear review on the Gallardo SE, same sound..
go to autocar's site and search for the video "Britain's best handling car" Probaby will find the answer right there.
it a v8 suond italian or american is difficult to say but is a v8 natural aspired not even a gt 40 beacuas it wuold have the supercharger suond. a sleen might be a good idea....EHM GUYS lambos and pagani suond like an incredible screaming girl such cray beautyfull suond
I first said comp lotus or GT Jaguar/Aston, the gallardo - I just didn't think the rmp were high enough. Comp engine for sure. the power was urgent with no dips in delivery. If you could hear the gear box i would have said Italian but you can't. My best guess would be the comp Dodge Viper
One thing is for sure. The driver really knows this road. It does sound like a V10though, not a V8. If it were an M5 or M6, it probably has an aftermarket exhaust.
How on earth could you listen to an engine with a clear 5-multiple sound (5cyl, 10cyl etc...) and then conclude that it's "definitely a V8" ??? It doesn't rev high enough to be a Porsche Carrera GT, so it's most-likely a BMW M5 or M6
i got with a huge v8 or a v10 but not a ferrari because it doesnt have that high pitch whistle they have. check out my dirtbike on my channel and please subscribe
i hear somthing with a turbo whistle in the end the gtr has a twin turbo v6 so maybe it is a gtr but is sounds great and it does'nt matter what car it is :D
This is definitely a V8. You can hear a clear and typical V8 sound at 2:30 when he is changing the gears in lower rev's. I guess to 90% It's an audi r8. And you have to keep in mind that the source of the sound is not the exhaust.
That's definitely a supercar they were driving. It was also very loud so my guess is a Lamborghini (LP560 like Seige said). Or maybe even a Mccleran F1, I know its suppose to be very loud.
That really sounds like a viper acr, plus its a manual trans and the engine noise is coming from the front of the car (where the camera is) and its got the same transmission whine as a new acr.
This was the Lambo LP560-4 it was in a comparison test along with the GT-R, R8 and lotus elise SC, they chose this one road and the gov was gentle enough to close it for an entire day just to do the comparison. this comparison was soly on which car does the fastest time in the road they chose, its a really good comparison and im just wondering when they'll post it here on youtube? i dont wanna spoil it or anything, but this just a heads up for whats coming.
Even if it is a shared shift-gate (and I don't believe it is exactly, they would only share with Lamborghini, and when do you ever see those in a manual?
Not right. It sounds like a V10 to me. The only thing that could give you a chance at being right is if they had the V10 R8 during that road test, which they did not. The Gallardo and the Murcielago are commonly fitted with a 6-speed manual, which is the same part fitted to the R8's. The paddle shifters are like a $3000 option.
Also, I am reasonably familiar with the R8 and very familiar with the engine (same from RS4). It does not sound like that.
They put up the video for the entire test on their website, under "Britain's best driver's car". Comparison between Lotus Elise SC, KTM X-bow, Audi R8, Lambo Gallardo LP560, and Nissan GTR (fugly).
Through the in-car videos you can hear the R8 is the only one shifting with the clacking as you can hear here. Plus the Lambo is an E-gear, not manual.
Sorry if you can't tell the difference between a V8 and a V10 on your computer's speakers.
Alright T h00p, if that is your real name, you win this round. To be honest I looked into it a bit after making my last comment and was having second thoughts anyway.
You all could be right - there are a few different ways to build a V8 - one way is to stick two straight fours together - which would sound similar to what we just heard . It could be a V10 too - but the sound at high revs isn't what I'm used to hearing from high revving V10s. A high spec flat 6? - but I know and live with high revving flat sixes - and they don't sound like that they are in a league of their own due to the flat configuration rendering them with a unique firing order & sond
the sound of the engine is too laud.. so it need to be at the front i think.. so it cant be a porsche... hmm.. a ferrari or a lambo.. i think not.. the sound of the cars is too different.. it can be a V6 maybe a V8.. i think a V6.. at the front a V6.. hmm.. maybe a 4 door saloon??? hmm?from germany?heh..
I think its a tvr or some german car. No way is it a italian. Its six cyl, there is no boost tho. no wastegate(s) or bov(s). That nasty quick gearbox- i dunno...
definitely not a Ferrari or a lambo, the sound of those engines is quite particular, now for the way it goes off, I would say is more like an old porsche or a ruf, just listing carefully to de engine, its quite similar to cr2 yellow bird, or something along those lines, is not deep enough as to be and 8 much less a 10 or a 12, and exhaust doesnt match a high power 4 so it is a powerful six, and being the Gbox the way it goes and the way the car goes on the turns specially that 90" old Porshce
deffinate lambo and im pretty sure its a Gallardo dunno if its a Superleggera tho hard to tell search on Superleggera and you can hear its a gallardo something or other
I think I know what car this is. I have seen a video I think it was a Ferrari vs a Lamborghini and they had them both on on this road (at least I think it is) and they started one then after that they started the other. Then they played the videos side by side so you could see which was faster. If you know which video I am talking about can you link it please? Would be nice to see if I am right.
Well I think, according to those super smooth gearchanges, this has to be the new Nissan GTR. For the first time I thought it could be the LP560-4 but it hasn't got such quick gearbox.
looks like the isle of man. prob not but seems like it.

Several key points:
1) No turbo/supercharger whine. NA engine.
2) The gearshifts are relatively long. Manual transmission.
3) The click-clack of shifting the gears is very unique, most specifically to the Audi R8 with the metal shift-gate
Final thoughts: Some kind of R8. Definitely not the V12 diesel. I doubt it's the high horsepower V10 version, but I'd be glad to be wrong :)

I think its a tvr or some german car. No way is it a italian. Its six cyl, there is no boost tho. no wastegate(s) or bov(s). That nasty quick gearbox- i dunno...

definitely not a Ferrari or a lambo, the sound of those engines is quite particular, now for the way it goes off, I would say is more like an old porsche or a ruf, just listing carefully to de engine, its quite similar to cr2 yellow bird, or something along those lines, is not deep enough as to be and 8 much less a 10 or a 12, and exhaust doesnt match a high power 4 so it is a powerful six, and being the Gbox the way it goes and the way the car goes on the turns specially that 90" old Porshce

see it sounds way different inside the car, that v10 shreeks on the outside views. Thanks for that.

Well thank you very much, I would've not believe it. But thanks, sounds quite different from what I remember of lambos.

TBH, on board footage always looks quick when you mount the camera low, but obvs this is still fast. Sounds ace too
