ouch tune this! but the playing isnt bad. you need to play with a little more feeling though, its kinda robotic and missing some emotion that i feel is necessary to truly make any Chopin nocturne come to life.
It's only for 10 seconds and you can hide the annotations. I did it to make sure it gets noticed, because this video is outdated and has been replaced with a new one.
@AnotherSchmoe This video is better than the new one because we can see the way you play it very clearly. Can you move the note to the side so that we can show it to the class from the beginning? Thanks for posting the video though.
You can disable annotations by clicking on the little red quote-bubble icon at the bottom of the video, it should be just to the left of the "360p" part.
One of the pegs inside the key-action snapped in half. It's a very old piano, the action and sound on it is terrible and it only plays at one volume; LOUD. It has absolutely no value (maybe $20 at most) and wasn't worth fixing. The same thing happened to many other keys throughout the year after this video was made. I bought a new digital piano in January this year, check out my newer videos. Thanks! =)
Again....your re-do is MUCH better, much smoother, cleaner, and more mature. Although this one is good too on the old Spinet piano... You know I played a Spinet piano recently at a friend's house..it looked funny to me, and didn't know that is was called a Spinet until I met you on YouTube...(err..ABF). :-)
It's a Gulbransen spinet, it's 52 years old. It's missing a lot of keys now and I don't play it anymore. I have a new digital piano (Yamaha P-155) that you can see in my more recent videos. =)
Good news, I ordered a new piano last week and it will be here *today* so I'll try and learn this piece again (I've largely forgotten how to play it) and see about getting a new recording up sometime this month. The new piano is a Yamaha P-155 digital, so there will be no more complaints about me not playing in tune. =P
Have fun out there and take it easy. Thanks for listening!
LOL. im guessing you dont play piano. rubato is a way of showing expression by basically "robbing" notes of their time value; therefore, some notes are held longer or shorter.
The peg inside the action snapped in half. It's not just the D anymore though, I've got about 14 broken keys all as a result of letting kids play on it when I wasn't around. =P
It's completely unplayable now, I'll just have to break down and buy a digital some day, but it's not a big priority at the moment.
Think the piano could be out of tune a little. But with it in tune, It'd be sooo much more beautiful, I give you an A plus for the way you played it though.
Hey, thanks for the comment! I don't currently make tutorials but I think it would be difficult to do a tutorial for something like this anyways.
I know you don't want to hear this but I'd recommend you take the time to learn to read sheet music. It takes some time and patience but it's definitely worth doing and will open up a lot of possibilities for you.
There are plenty of learning books and websites that can help you out, but whatever you choose to do I wish you the best! =)
Hi! Good job, I really liked your interptetation. You played with emotion for sure. :) This piece is so lovely and there are some beautiful performances of it here on YouTube that I feel quite motivated to complete it now. ;)
And I agree with the comments below: your piano is a bit out of tune. I love it though, it seems to be cool. I wish I had one. ^^
Thanks!! I hope to hear you play it sometime when you get your new digital piano, it takes a lot of practice and patience but I'm sure you will get it done sooner or later, you played the beginning really well. =)
Thanks thomandy! Yes, some people like the honky-tonk tone of the piano. Unfortunately I'm not one of them. =P
I'm hoping to buy a Yamaha Clavinova like yours sometime this year though. Hopefully! Thanks a bundle for the view and comment, means a lot to me. Take care and keep up your excellent playing as well. =)
I mean from 4:05 to 4:16 it's too long

You're right, the redo on the new piano is much better, but I like this view, so I can watch the fingering.

Hehe, yeah they're tiny little fellas (as far as acoustic pianos go anyways). Poor things don't even qualify as uprights. =(
Thanks for the kind words. =)

decent job on a bad piano. however, i think you could use a bit more rubato at times.
