a small correction for you klaz the rax did not see the hydras just before the mutis came in you could see the max range of the vision and if savior hadnt put all his hydras flush against the wall they might have been spotted
im pretty good at judging sight range if i see the limit of it at some point because i play DotA on wc3 and use the edges of sight range alot to my benefit
thanks alot for doing these games i always relish an opportunity to hear your commentaries
Well, Klaz is obviously super Savior biased, much like Cholera is super Reach biased :P Calling Savior genius for going hydras against mech was a pretty big overreaction :P
It was very clear that Leta went mech, cause
1. Savior saw the 1st vulture.
2. Leta always goes mech.
Klaz is simply a bit outdated about the way matchups work atm.
Still, I'm happy to see Savior getting back into the game :]
You dont normally see a mech build vs zerg, but I guess he felt forced into it. Too bad he didn't get siege up earlier, would have made the game more interesting. Would have been nice to see how that strat works in the long run. GG!
CrazyCrackahMelakle, he was planning on going mech or something similiar. If you've been watching recent TvZ's, the recent trend is going mech. Also, Leta prefers doing creative stuff over standard mnm. Mech is probably the best follow-up to a proxy 8rax. You could say that he was behind, but he didn't lose any SCVs and he made Savior pull 3 drones and delay his natural hatchery a great deal. He probably should have only gotten one marine, though.
Klaz damn, your involvement into the commentary is superb as always but man, Leta is in round of 16 of both the starleagues and has been destroying everyone left and right in the PL with over 75% winrate since may 08. The only thing that speaks against him is the absence of a major league title, otherwise he's a favourite over anyone really, save the top 5 vT players.
steven, Savior 11 pooled, which is essentially the perfect BO against 8 rax (which is why he put the pool down at the perfect timing after scouting it). Since Savior went for an economically superior build and Leta's rush did no damage and gave no advantage, he was behind going into the midgame.
However, Leta wasn't far behind, certainly not as far as KIazart made him out to be. 8 rax used to be considered a cheesier build than it is now, I believe, and it has become quite common recently.
basicaly what i'm saying is, Savior didnt really have an advantage imo, he just went all in units right b4 Leta's expo kicked in, and very cleverly hid the hydra even though Leta had a racks in his base, i'm not trying to take anything from savior's win, it's just that i dont hink it was as 1-sided as u made it look, and really calling Leta, the guy who went 24-7 in proleague a "decent little terran" is a bit much, even though u r Savior biased"( unless it was sarcasm, then i apologize)
I have to say I would agree but I think it was a 6 rax, not an 8. He was set back because he lacked the additional resource influx the 2+ would have provided. But idk, i don't feel like rewatching it to see how many scv's he had, so i might be wrong. :)
klazart hasnt been on the starcraft scene 100 percent give him a break, Leta's great win ratio in the prologue is the only thing he has going for him, im unaware if he has made it anywhere near the finals on any Starleague but i doubt that.
i dont understand by what logic was Leta put behind by that racks in the middle, he build 3-4marines which he would have anyway, and immediately proceeded with the standard mech build, and then was able to scout most of the game for free cause his racks was built so close to savior, and he didnt cut scvs, afterwards Savior brilliantly caught Leta of guard with the hydra, but if his units were positioned better he would have defended, and then Savior would be a gonner (2-base terran vs2base zerg
if u watch it again u'll see that it was an 8racks, maybe he built 1-2 marines more than he should have, and that 2nd scv should have been mining, but otherwise it was a completely standard mech build, in the end the abandoned bunker rush might have cost him 1-2 goliaths which wouldnt have made a difference. The reason for Savior's win is the unexpected clever timing attack, the racks in the middle has very little or nothing to do with it
klaz so glad to see you back! you're still the premier SC commentator! Ive seen these games already but watching them with your commentary brings new insight and thus affords a rewatch. great job!!!!
Leta definitely didn't see the hydras. A common build zergs have been using to counter mech is making only a couple hydras to protect from wraiths/vultures.
Leta saw the hydra den but he expected the only mutas to attack him. You can see that he produced a tank only before he knew about the mutas. Once he saw the mutas, he didn't make any more tanks or set up any sort of defense.
Klaz Leta did not see the hiden Hydras the playback showed that. By the way always good hering from u. Savior I think my not have the mechanics like Jaedong but he is one of the smatest players out there has always been.
Leta didn't actually make a mistake by not researching Siege. He was unfortunately screwed either way; he needed Charon Boosters for the Mutas, and Mines+Siege for the Hydras. His machine shop could only research so quickly.
This is Savior's cleverness at work here. He hid his hydras from Leta, only showing his mutas. The result? Leta upgraded charon boosters BEFORE siege. Savior is so smart.
But as much as I love Savior, ANY progamer can beat any other progamer on any given day. This type of clever play might work in a BO1 but not in a BO5. However, I'm really optimistic for the direction Savior is heading in. Even though they were just Bo1 matches, beating Bisu and Leta is a great start I gotta say xD.
It does actually make a huge difference. If you see hydras the research isn't so important as your unit composition. If Leta had replaced 2 goliaths with 2 tanks then the fight would have probably panned out radically differently.
Klaz obviously did not follow the scene the past few months, he should have mentioned that Leta is a beast atm (there is a headline article at TL, he is even #1 at the powerrank) and he had problems reading the tech decisions the players made.
But who am I to complain in a Klaz-Video-Comment ;)
It was still so entertaining. I waited till you commentated this vod to watch it. Thanks a lot!
Hmm... Klazart, I don't think you're giving Leta enough credit. His win% in both TvT and TvZ are over 70% and he's #1 in proleague. "decent" just doesn't cut it, and I don't think you quite realize how huge of a victory this was for Savior. Leta was on a 9-game winstreak against Zerg and is 13-3 in 2008-2009 in TvZ.
Also, Savior specifically scouted midmap, and not directly to another base, so the fact that it wasn't a 4-player map didn't matter.
Yes obviously, I haven't been following the scene closely for the past several months :) Though it didn't help that Savior made Leta look a far worse player than he probably is
saviour could have directly scouted north to leta's base, and also there is a base at the 10 o'clock position which was vross-position from savior's base that savior wanted to scout, which may have ended up with savior's overlord scouting the fast barracks that leta made in the middle of the map
The overlord that savi0r sacrificed into Leta's base to get the scout was key. It was then that he was able to see the mech build and adjust appropriately.
he saw vult before the overlord got sacrificed... if you;re a zerg user you should understand that terr is going mech if he made early vult. Btw i think he sacrificed the ovie to see if leta isn't going for wraiths.
LOL, the floating barracks won a race with overlord :)

It does set you back if you do no damage.
Xnosider 3 years ago
that is true but only if savior went for 12 hatch 11 pool
usually the forward 8rax is to do a bunker rush against a 12Hatch 11 pool
but savior did a 9 pool (or over pool?) which, even though, defends against the bunker rush, does not give Savior that much advantage

Aye, nobody goes 6 rax. Anyway, it's pretty easy to tell if you can count :

01:09 - eighth pops out
01:18 - rax goes down
