  • you are a great teacher thanks for wot ure oding!! the video that helkped me alot is the pinch harmonicks ive always wanted to do it with a grwat metal tone :)

  • This Guy Is FREAKIN GOD!!!

  • FINALLY!! Someone that knows what the hell their talking about.

  • wich amp or pedal are you using

  • whoooo 1000th like by me

  • thanks for the lesson man...

  • I'm trying to palm mute but my hand naturally picks up from the bridge to strum, any tips to reteach myself not to pick up?

  • What kind of amp and settings you using?

  • I can palm mute just fine. But when I record songs, I use a lot of palm muting and it sounds really bassy. How can I reduce the amount of bassy-ness?

  • @imadey0utube turn the bass down on ur eq?

  • @imadey0utube palm mute closer to the bridge, and try using left hand muting as well.

  • do you have to teach behind the screen of a computer? that was a thought

when i watched this video; In spite of these circumstances let me say thank

    you

  • ok could somebody help me make riffs and shit out of scales cuz ive been learning a few and can play them pretty well but i cant figure out how to create a riff out of one for the life of me! could someone help like seriously man

  • u need to be kind of careful and selective or whatever why does kd taste like crap if you put on too much ketchup same reason ur palm hs to be on the very back of the strings like over the screws or whatever works for me

  • why my palm muting did not sound like in the vid....its sound like my palm muting is really muting the string.... (sorry about the grammar)

  • @randyrkowin24 you should just be lightly pressing down on the strings with your palm

  • Great vid! It helped me a lot.

  • It depends of tone and beat man...U can do it anyway u want to...I like single toning with drums but double is cool too. Or intermix double with single.

  • great lesson sir.. helped me a lot... i hope to see more from you... \m/

  • @adfire2009 thanks! i have 40+ videos here you may find some other ones useful

  • @wkriski can you make a vid on how to cope with writer's block because i've writers block like nobody's business. I'm playing in C# Standard (C# F# B E G# C#)

  • How would I get inspiration for a heavy, muddy sound for example korn?

  • you. are. so. boss.

  • yess... THANK UUUU, u actually teached instead ov showing off

  • HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!

  • @death0by0zgs it's not just palm muting but beginners need all the help they can get

  • @wkriski But it's straight foreward man one string and riff it....People are always making guitar seem impossible...Bass is harder anyway.

  • @TheLuotutin hey dude ar you a bassist? if so can you tell me how to play bass with the drums?

  • @death0by0zgs thts y its a video for beginners...

  • @death0by0zgs You'd be suprised. When I went on work experience with my guitar teacher, alot of people were really bad at palm muting.

  • @death0by0zgs But not everyone knows of it,or gets pissed when hearing about man...You is a failure to learning.

  • @death0by0zgs

pls post one of your vids, so i can see what your skill is.....no offense, but i try to find out if you can PLAY . If u can`t, the u have no right to post such an asshole comment. If u can, pls show us your technique & skill.

    I`m curious!

Great Job Dude by the way for ur efforts and YES Beginners need all the help they can get. Especially if they have no teacher.

  • @klklklklkjlkjjhu

Dude you need to calm down. In general.

  • @death0by0zgs

dunno what u mean. my second name is calm.

    \w/

  • @death0by0zgs it s really a great fckin video for starters... if you're such a great guitar player why dont you make your own tutorials?

To the video owner: thanks for sharing info with us, starters! cheers!

  • @death0by0zgs Was a good lesson, any beginner would find this very helpful.

  • @death0by0zgs

  • @death0by0zgs im a noob and ive been looking for a solid month how to palm mute. maybe im stupid, maybe i just needed to watch a video from this guyy

  • Playing in D im sure.

  • @ExSqUiZiT standard tuning but i make it sound heavier :)

  • YOU ARE SO HOT!!!!!!!!

  • THX dude

  • Your lessons are pretty cool man

  • hey i've learned a lamb of god song recently and a pantera song, and i've found that metal bands use three consecutive notes sometimes and play around between them in a riff. Can someone explain to me when I can use that and what scale or mode its from?

  • @axeiston it's generally not part of a scale to have 3 chromatic notes, but one would be the arabic scale. It could also just be a passing tone between two scale tones that are a whole step apart. or just messing around with 3 chromatic notes can just sound cool

  • @wkriski or its just simple minor pentatonic blues scale, in which is fourth, diminished fifth and a fifth consecutively :)

  • @axeiston probably is a E blues minor scale (or a D or C minor, it depends if you use drop tunings)

  • @axeiston Basically it's a math thing,but they don't know it...Or an reversal...

  • Cheers mate you really helped me

  • Watched a few of your clips now and its certainly helping with my development, keep up the good work.

  • I know!! Im always so frustrated when my friends will listen to classic metal all the time, yet shun away anything new without even hearing it.

  • Besides, I guarentee every true guitarist you incounter knows how to play anything from dropped, to normal, on electric guitar and acoustic.

  • @SK8RxDUDE15 incounter???

  • I hate when people say distorienting the guitar is just "Noise". It's the same notes, riffs, etc. as anything a 70s or 80s guitarists would play, just more diabolical, or "Hardcore" so to speak. And just becuase the sound of the guitar is changed doesn't mean you're still not "Playing from your heart". People need to start to learn to appreciate a bigger variety of music, not just their little restricted areas/types of music, or "Baby zone".

  • @SK8RxDUDE15 ya man spoken like dimebage, shred in peace!..

  • @SK8RxDUDE15 although i cant live with pop music its just too you could say simplified

  • @SK8RxDUDE15 Agreed, listening to one thing is just ridiculously closeminded.

  • @SK8RxDUDE15 I can't tell if your on this guy's side or not.

  • @SK8RxDUDE15 Fuck Yeah

  • @SK8RxDUDE15 You sir, speak wise words!

  • Pure metal is 440! If your song is great ,You don't have to drop down ! Listen to all the 70's metal. Most of that droped shit is NOISE ! I hate this guy's sound but I like him and his lesson ! BE YOURSELF !! PLAY WHAT"S IN YOUR HEART !!!!!

  • Your a boring idiot who says obvious things

  • you definitely should include adding pinch harmonics to your next lesson...

  • @FallenShock do you mean using them in a riff?

  • @wkriski Yes.

  • Great guitar playing dude.....I learned a lot fromwatching....Thank you

  • Good tone for the style. Sounds like the tone on Metallica's garage days re-revisted.

  • whats his guitar tuned to?

  • @runningfromghosts my guitar is standard tuning

  • @wkriski try drop tuning to drop Bb for a heavier sound :D

  • I can't figure out why there are a few people who don't like this lesson...Maybe they suffer from envy: your lesson is great, man, you're a master

  • @thyangel83 not sure. some people won't give a lesson or topic a chance or are frustrated with their playing perhaps. thanks for the compliment.

  • lmao kissy face 2:41 xD

  • @texterfromhell yeah sorry noticed that too, i try not to make guitar faces but that was so raunchy I coudn't help myself :)

  • i can play the guitar like chords and go through whole songs, but cant for the life of me work out how to do this. got any advice?

  • @ILoveYouBabe1423 it seems to be a natural occurrence after you learn lots of songs. do you understand what you are playing (theory)?

  • @wkriski Sort of, find that a bit complicated though. been watching your vids and would prefer to play this sort of stuff and make my own songs instead.

  • @ILoveYouBabe1423 in this video i give you ideas on how to mix power chords with notes, should get you started

  • @wkriski thanks so much for taking the time to help its appreciated. i'll let you know how it goes

  • i want to start making some metal songs but i suck :( lol

  • this going in my favs

  • dude your sick ty for the vid

  • man wat amp did u use in this video

  • @graberronnie1 line 6 pod xt thru altec lansing computer speakers

  • I have a question. When I play Guitar, I only use downstroke because I feel kinda uncomfortable with Alternate picking. Is it nessary not learning how to Alternate Pick or is it just optional to learn it?

  • @TheHarlingenLegend yes learn alternate picking...work on it during your practice. but if you downstroke ok then do that for the time being. I had trouble with hammer ons/pulloffs at first so I use to slide around.

  • The best video on the "How to play something" genre, you have a good way to explain.

  • do you get your sound from the line 6 pod xt and plug in straight to your computer?

  • @evil666maiden not really into the computer for this video, but using the mic on the camera and playing through computer speakers

  • Uhh, in about 0:45 of the video, what do you mean by the "flushy" part of your hand?

  • @dotawarrior fleshy...basically the side or outer part

  • when i write riffs i just fuck around and play random shit and if it flows or sounds cool i try to mimic wat i played and add on to that

  • your guitar has excellent tone! im going to have to try to mimic that. can you give me a general range of mids lows and highs?

  • @xist522 thanks. I mostly focus on getting patches I like for the podxt as a whole but in general high bass and treble, low mid range

  • fewrfewr

  • when i try to make riffs,i usually just stick to picking while palm muting and stick in different power chords, but i wanna stick in some single notes.what do i do because when i try single chords it sounds kinda bad and doesnt fit in

  • @mosnotdef1 this is what i talk about in the video, mixing notes with chords

  • wtf is up with the sound in this video...

  • @YourRoadToHell just on one side I think. this was one of my first videos from 4 years ago dude

  • I really learn stuff from you ...... :)

  • fuckin love triplets

  • lol alternate picking is the most fun

  • I'm waiting for the day for guitar music theory to slap me in the face and just be like, OH so that's how that works!

  • 5:03 is the best part of the video

  • this video really helped me. thanx dude.

  • your reminding me of Lars Ulric...

  • @Omfgkirkhammet ouch ...i personally thought he was good

  • omg man you are one brutal man geez ,Wicked riffs just like that ..lol! epic

  • hey so ive been playin guitar for around 5 years but can never seem to get past a point with my fingering. im good at playing the main stuff but im really not so great at the higher strings and all of the single notes. i have the chords down fine. what should i do?

  • @dudacl2 you could try learning some solos you like note for note, really work to sound exactly the same, this will develop your technique as well

  • @dudacl2 metronome with chromatic excersizes and such

  • @dudacl2 practice scales over and over

  • @dudacl2 Scales bro, ive been playing for 5 and im already getting soloing.

  • @602KusH ive been playing for like a year and a half and i don't know any scales haha, i just watch videos of my favorite guitar players like chris poland and try to mimic where he is playing at, im learning scales now though to improve my playing

  • am i the only one who thinks if you had long hair and a beard you would kind of look like dimebag ??

  • which effects do you use?

  • @radiacto line6 podxt for everything

  • Hard to tell your tuning. Is it standard or drop D? Your talking about bar chords so I thought drop D? Are you doing power chords too? Nice lesson not boring at all.

  • @drowe77 standard tuning, mostly power chords (root/fifth) and I double the fifth below to make it sound heavier like having a drop D in a sense

  • When I try to create a Riff, even if I don't want to, I think of musics I know... And I get stuck and can't get any riff... What should I do?

  • @JokerJohnJoker most riffs sound like someone else so don't worry too much, just keep making up stuff, learning new things, etc

  • @JokerJohnJoker Write many, many riffs, you'll slowly, but surely start to have your own sort of style, but this will take a lot of time. Try listening to other things than Metal, using odd-time signatures, unique scales etc. and try to make it sound good. Good Luck :)

  • thanks man

  • Do you only upstroke with palm mute the first string of the chord? Cause up & down stroke of the whole power chord is so hard...

  • @121Guns i generally palm mute with down strokes

  • @wkriski But I see you palm mute up & down...

  • @121Guns usually for single notes (on one string)

  • Is that the guitar John Petrucci uses?

  • COOL!!!!!!

  • What you play around 1:19-1:20 sounds like Pantera. Just needs some F#

  • Will, what settings are you using for the POD? I'm trying to a nice aggressive, yet clear tone like you are using.

  • @stevepgt i usually use downloadable patches from line6 website like satch marshall plus I have EMG pickups which help. and I bought the metal add on packs. i don't play with the settings much

  • @stevepgt I use drive on the amp, gain 100% and volume 10%. On the guitar, i use volume 100% and tone 50%. I also use the top tone on the tone bar, either top or second from bottom. AC/DC use second from bottom on Highway To Hell. It's imense!

  • lol what type of tuning is that im a brand new beginner lol how do you make your guitar sound like that is it the guitar amp or pickoups lol or tuning

  • @emocorxprax it's standard tuning. i recommend the podxt, and the ibanez is great with EMG active pickups. some of the sound comes from my experience over the years - ie it's in the fingers, which takes time to develop

  • its the mixing muting and open in the same riff that trips me up

  • that was pretty ronchy

  • Nice lesson \m/

  • que buena distorsion !!

  • I've been playing for acoustic for nearly 3 years and I'm now stepping it up to electric and mostly play metal and rock and dude you've already got my metal mojo goin

  • Thank you so much for all of your vids

  • what kind of guitar effects to be use???

  • the sound comes through my left and right ear but when you talk or play it only comes through my left ear, pretty anoying.

    lol.

    and FUCKING AWESOME btw :D

  • @JeffreySkateBoarding glad you like it. sorry about the audio that was done 3.5 years ago when I just started making these videos! :)

  • @wkriski haha it doesnt matter, still nice vid (:

  • nic

  • the fleashey part! lol

  • how do u recognise a good guitar player. they do not dodge vibratos with their pinkies and just meet them head on.

great lesson. one of the better melodic lessons.

  • Lol! This video only has left speaker sound..

  • what tuning is this thanks

  • @TanandGreenSoilder standard

  • @wkriski Why would you demonstrate metal in standard tuning? Drop it babay

  • @NOWYOURGONNABURNHOE i'm an 80's metalhead, drop tuning wasn't as prevalent :)

  • @NOWYOURGONNABURNHOE you dont have to do that to play metal

  • @NOWYOURGONNABURNHOE drop D tuning is for Followers & is Nothing New

  • @MetalHeart8787 i agree drop C and drop A much better for the deathest of metals

  • @MetalHeart8787 standard tuning is more for followers. cus theres way more songs that are in standard tuning.

  • What tuning is this?

  • HI, i just bought my first amp ( not an amp, the vox amplug metal, headphone amp) and when i palm mute, it makes this farting noise after about 2-3 seconds after i pick it, it happens maybe 60 % of the time and it`s anoying, and it`s just on the low E string. i doubt it`s my muting that`s wrong, i can pick without it farting and when i pick again (note, without moving my hand) it farts, it seems random. any clues?

  • @Twiggyay that's weird and difficult to troubleshoot without being there. maybe the string starts to vibrate if the palm pressure lets up a bit. other ways to try is use a different amp and guitar to isolate the issue. have someone else do it on your setup as well if it happens to them then you have more clues

  • @wkriski I would try it on another amp, but i only own one... but as long as i pick again before the noise kick in it shouldn`t be a big problem, thanks =3

  • @Twiggyay you are killing me with the whole farting thing ha ha thats funny as hell

good luck keep it metal......farts ha ha

  • you dont have to do hard stuf to play pritty good,

    awsome video

can you give me a few tips to make a guitar solo?

    im just an beginner
