The same thing happened to my golden a couple of falls ago. My dad was out back with her and they kicked up a nice 8 pointer and he stared at the dog and then started walking towards her until my dad spooked it. This was in November so the only thing I could think of was that he was in the rut...would have been one ugly litter, ha.

Most of you missed what was really going on here. Roxy and the deer were "locked" in a retreat/attack mode for hours! The deer acted in this weird manner because we have large numbers Eastern Coyotes. The deer learned that a good offense is the best defense. Watch the second vid you'll notice a long scar on the deer's side. That's from an arrow shot from a tree stand.

Whoever watches this video might know that Goldens dont really hunt, they retrieve downed fowl. These dogs are really not apt for hunting deer. Maybe foxes if they are aggressive enough.
