Banks weakened medieval monarchy so we could be "blessed" to have materialist laboratories in the "new world", but the denial of some form of hereditary ruler really cuts people off from their roots, IMO. To me royalty was all about having someone to represent the best of humanity and remind us of our true noble roots. Americans have demonized it from day one, but I think it's an unfortunate attitude. The whole point of the coronation is that a certain nation asks God to sanctify a reign that will be good and just.......He anoints the Monarch as symbol of divine goodness. Its not not about being exclusive but rather, by implication, because goodness cannot in its essence apply to only section of society, it applies to the whole World, past present and future. The ceremony is therefore about those people, who are Her Majesty's own, trying to express what is good and just. No more, no less.

Brilliant video! A propos a few comments. If Lady Jane Grey were to go then so must Edward V, I think. If Charles isn't king then William can't be, unless Charles predeceases his mother. An abdicated monarch renounces the title for him(her)self, their heirs and successors. So if Charles were to abdicate (unlikely I think) the crown would pass to Prince Andrew, Duke of York.

Even if Charles doesn't abdicate in favor of William, I would imagine he would have a short reign, like George IV or Edward VII.
