Nothing strange here.. You got to remember moving pictures was a recent invention at the time. He'd probably never seen a camera and was very curious about it.
I'd guess he's about 10 years old. This film was shot in 1901, which would mean he was born around 1890. I saw a news story today about a 113-year-old British man, WWI veteran Henry Allingham, passing away. Allingham was born in 1896, just a few years after this kid. It's quite possible that this kid went on to serve in WWI. I wonder who he was. If he became a father, his children, and certainly grandchildren, could be alive today.
My thoughts also, everyone of the people in the film had lives before and after after the filming, the man who had a new hat, also the woman with the feather in hers.
Did you notice the only person who is in the whole film (other than the boy) with the notice boards with winning lottery numbers on?
