@av8orf15 It did work, went from 13 MPG to 19.5 city. Too much trouble to keep it going though so I no longer use it. Also there is a danger in working with H2. The truck is so old that I would like to just sell it now and buy a newer model. Preferably a Ford as there is no local Dodge deal near me anymore. Well there is but I'd rather not do business with him.
@STORMCAT06 Oil companies have a huge grip on car makers. On top of that, Hydrogen burns a lot hotter and stronger, meaning you'd get higher engine temps (can anyone help expand on that?) and I heard of one guy who blew a piston. The idea that it takes more amps from the alternator, which takes more mechanical energy, is not true. The alternator is always running and always creating resistance to the engine, but when the power is not needed, the engery is lost in heat.
like to give the HHO system a try, I know the risks of explosion (which it is hydrogen). But my fuel economy is 8-12 miles per gallon with 83 oct. with 10% ethanol and 10-15 with 83 oct. pure. I am also sitting at 228k miles. The only mod i have done at all is a MSD ignition with 8mm MSD wires, and distributor. any suggestions
ive got the same make and model, just with the 5.9L 360 magnum and would like to give the HHO system a try, I know the risks of explosion (which it is hydrogen). But my fuel economy is 8-12 miles per gallon with 83 oct. with 10% ethanol and 10-15 with 83 oct. pure. I am also sitting at 228k miles. When I first bought my truck it got much better mileage than it did before I hooked this up. I think a lot of the improvement may be that when H2 burns it creates super heated steam. I have seen other videos that show how clean engines, small generator engines, are after running H2. I have no way to prove this but it is my guess that the steam cleaning of the engine has a lot to do with the mileage improvement of a 13 year old engine.
@STORMCAT06 you are basically taking advantage of an inefficiency in the charging system. You pull too many amps and it will cost you fuel. you have to find the sweet spot. As for the manufacturers these things can explode and cannot be made idiot proof, but they are commercially available for heavy equipment. A rock quarry where I live uses them on thier front end loaders for a 25 percent reduction in diesel fuel.
just the scan guage, impossible to check the old fashion way as the flap on the fill spout won't allow you to see how far the fuel level comes up in the neck. Every pump will fill differently and I suspect the same pump would have a great deal of variation. I figure the gauge is close enough if I check with and without the hydro working.
Did you check MPG using old fashioned method of calculating Mileage or just a scangauge? My scangauge says I am getting 25mpg when i am getting 18-19mpg real gas mileage.
I drive a 04 dodge ram 1500. With the 5.7 hemi and holy cow does my pockets hurt. that truck sucks gas like a mo fo. About how much am i looking to spend for the system?
Not that it is a bad idea, but it's been proven over and over none of these systems work. Even Popular Mechanics has tested these and found no improvement in mpg. The best way to improve mpg's is to increase air intake and exhaust so the engine doesn't have to work as hard. I think you probably just slowed down or changed your driving haits after you installed it because I don't know how you only got 11mpg before.
i have dang near the same truck just a 97. and manual. and i am pretty sure that i am going to mimic what you have made. just a couple q's how did you hook up the + and - to the plates? and did you notice any power increases with the system. thanks!
pulling hills I have noticed that all the pinging and chatter is gone. I just have 7 plates one + one - and 5 neutrals. I have also noticed that when I turn the system off, now that the computer is calibrated to the hydrogen and running leaner that I get much more mileage when the hydrogen isn't in the system as well. Just the engine running a lot leaner.
what do you think when u have 7.2 liter engine you crazy power hungry mad man - buy yourself smaller car and you will save money then - 1.8 engine with 1l of HHO can do approx 80 miles as oppose to 40 - 100% mileage increase with HHO
...listen careffuly
never dispose hho generator liquid into the sink as it's chromates causes cancer THEREFORE
Store it in sealed BARREL or CONTAINER until recycling centres available - plastic preferable don't store waste liquid in metal container
I live on a farm, a truck is a nessessity on a farm. 4 wheel drive is not an option. I drive 6 miles one way to work for a total of 12 miles per day.
Also due to arthritis and degenerative disk disease I cannot drive a small car. I can't get into or out of them. I have a Dodge Stealth that I bought in 91.
July of 07 my wife was hit head on by a drug user, if she had been driving a smaller car she would have been killed. She was driving a town and country mini van and was killed at that.
EBN guys are selling a far superiour cell to mine, if your looking to buy one I would highly recommend theirs. Mine is just a homebrew thing to save some cash and see if they actually work, which they do.
Look for EBN, SmartScareCrow or d3adp001, they all have channels here and make arrangements to buy one of their brick cells. Tell them i sent you, it won't get you a discount but might win me some brownie points. LOL
Thanks for showing me your 1996 dodge. I have a 1997 dodge 4x4 5.9L I am getting about 13.9. but still working on it. Did you try to put O2 extender on yours and how about a MAP enhacncer??? Hey one day at a time keep up the great work.
those 02 extenders are just spark plug non foulers so don't pay $20 for them when you can go to a parts store and get them for $4. No I haven't tried them yet, I am building a ciruit to alter the 02 signal though.
From what I understand of the MAP you can use a potentiometer to do the same as a MAP enhancer, as they just lower the voltage to the ECM. Where as a o2 enhancer has to increase the voltage.
Yes it is a work in progress, thinking of taking the tailgate off for a while to help.
it has been proven that taking your tailgait off increases downforce on the bed which then decreases gas mileage. your best bet is a toneau cover, i got 2-3 mpg better with mine, 20 on a road trip!
nice truck i have a 98 v6 ram and i will drive it until the wheels fall off.
Thanks, I got your meaning. Is your toneau cover the hard one or the soft fabric type? I've wanted one since I bought the truck, but now that it is 13 years old I really hate to invest that much.
That is outstanding! I am not mechanically inclined and would not be able to attempt this. But I sure wish I could. If I understand correctly, the hydrogen is used as soon as it is made, removing the issue of safe storage?
Great voice, very deep timbre, you could get voice over work. Kudos.
I'm not mechanically incline when it comes to engines, but other things come pretty easy. Yes you are using the H as soon as it is separated from the water.
Yeah my voice was even deeper when I was 13, wrong numbers would talk for a while when I was a kid until they found out I was only 13. LOL
DO NOT wire the cell thru the ignition as the cell will be producing hydrogen when the ignition is on accessories and the engine is not running and will be placing a high level of hydregon in to the air intake .

Hey I have almost the same truck and system you have just wanted to say howdy. And if you figure out how to trick your o2 censor please let me know how it worked! Mine does good but I think the o2 censor is holding me back.
I have exact same truck as you with the 318 and i have 265k and all i did was change original tires to 2004 dodge rims and tires and get 16.5 mpg.

Is this the 5.2L or the 5.9L? I've got the 5.9L same year and make, wondering if I can do this to my truck.

@joudheus
it's the 318. If you do it be very careful. Hydrogen is highly volitile and any spark can be an explosion.

@KyHighlander59 Word, I have the magnun 5.9L or basically the 360. Is it pretty much the same process? By the way, you sound like John Goodman.

@KyHighlander59 if your 318 nearly doubled in fuel efficiency it would be cool to see what it would do to my 318 that is already getting 18-25MPG
