@Borastheantichrist Though I do not know you, you have made a great choice in music, and I wish you the very best of health and happiness with your partner. :)
@BellaMarieSwan1000 Thanks! The fun part about hearing this at the reception was that a few of our guests recognized the BSG pieces and gave us the thumbs up.
I used to be skeptical about BSG then I watched the miniseries. Fantastic. The first season had me hooked from the start of "33". As I ventured into Season 2 the story became so much more dramatic and beautiful. Starting from "Pegasus" I was hit by a wave of emotion that I have never before experienced from a TV show. The clash of morals with the crew of Pegasus and Galactica, Roslin almost succumbing to her cancer, Lee's depression, and Helo's and Chief's emotions for Sharon, moved me to tears.
She gives us the message of status quo, she hasnt got any revolutionary idea.Just an example,in the episode 3x16, chief speaks with roslin about the bad working conditions of the people, kids workers, and about their future.Roslin says, this all things are just normal. Then chief says"these kids dont have any future.I am a chief, this means, that my child will be a chief too.Is it our perspective for our children's future."Than Roslin says,"Yes,this is a good point" She is not qualified for her job.
I think, she was the worst character in this film. Why? First of all, how she acts, how she speaks, how she looks were always unnatural. She was a very ordinary person. Not an idealist.Realist, but a bad kind of realist. We can always create a better reality. She was an opportunist, she wanted to kill all cylons, she wasnt against genocide. This is unacceptable. But in the contex of film, all this faults are normal. The humanity had done all this faults.Adama was a better person.
Adama and Roslin are so well written and acted. Both Olmos and McDonnell are excellent actors and they have a really good chemistry. Their relationship and how it spans trough the entire series, building up from hostility to mutual respect and finally romantic feelings is beautiful.
There are so many good and complex relationships in BSG, but this sets them all apart because it's more slow-paced and between two mature people who are responsible for the entire fleet.
@LordKryn I too cried on the last episode. Both adamas were screwed out of their women. Bill lost the one person who might've made him happy, Lee lost the one girl who ever stood a match against him...
Even Tyrol got cheated out of Cally (though his revenge on that one b*tch was priceless)
Amazing series. I'd watch it ove again a thousand times, but I can't bear to watch the finale again. It's simply too sad.
@TonyEvans96 what a fucking nightmare for poor Col Tigh. killing his cheating wife only for her to resurrect each time and constantly repeating in a monotone voice
"all of this has happened before and will happen again.. and again.. and again.."
@Powersnufkin Haha. If only he knew "If I die and resurrect I can have my eye back!" instead he's gonna be a crippled for the rest of his life.
On top of that, he's almost as much as a slut as his wife. First he's married to her, kills her, falls in love with the 6 model, knocks that woman up, baby dies, old wife returns, and HEY, they're back together. WTF is that?
@hai2410 just use keepvid and format it to fit whatever listening device you utilize. No, this is not a scam. Please feel free to cross reference this information.
I got into BSG almost by accident. I was in walmart looking for "something" ---"anything" to watch because, let's face it, prime time television just didn't have anything on that interested me. I was afraid that it was going to be campy like the original BSG (good but in its own strange way). I bought Season 1. I was hooked. I had to buy the other seasons 2 and 3. I watched most of season 4 on HULU then bought it too. No cable TV so had to watch HULU and it was torture waiting each week!
@TheCuddlyKnife I've considered getting into it a couple of times but I'm always busy and end up starting other series. One of these days I'll get around to it.
@0BatGirl0 That's pretty much how I got into it. Finally coming around after putting it off for a while, I mean. But once I started, it was instant addiction until the very end. If not for Netflix, I probably would never have watched it at all. :)
Out of everything i've done in my life, nothing has touched my soul as deeply as this show. Not even my birth, my girlfriend, my brother, or anyone or any other thing. When i'm old and dying, i will remember this and forever know the inspiration it filled me with; the inspiration that'll keep me living to fulfill my dreams.

It is hard when you watch such a brilliant series like this, you get addicted and more addicted each episode you watch. And then when it ends, its like you lost something inside you, its still the fantasy that gives you, i mean, everyone of us dreamt about to be a Viper pilot, kicking Cylons, be a part of the Galacticacrew. Thats what ive been dreaming of
Man, I love this piece. It's so Sad and happy all at the same time... Even my friend whose watching the series for the first time noted this music, and he doesn't usually notice the music.

Roslin should have died just as she did. If she hadn't, then the main themes of the entire series would have been thrown to the wind. The prophecy of a dying leader--one who would bring her people to the promised land but not get to live there herself--would have meant nothing. Her visions during the jumps on the bay ship would have been bunk. And her final realization, acceptance, and verbalization of her love for Adama would have been that much less meaningful.
The violins start the slow melody into additional violins adding their melody into the steel guitar, bluegrass-like, at 2:00. The intermelding of these intruments make a composition worthy of the characters of Roslin & Adama as initial dislike for each other changes to love...miss this series...
Hey people, this track turns me crazy... It's really beautiful, but it's not complete!!! When you listen it in the serie, it don't finish at 2:50, it continues! And I don't know how to feel because I think that it's one of the most wonderful tunes, and the BSO track finish at best part! >.<
I just finished watching Daybreak today and I gotta say CRAP!! Why'd Laura have to die??!?!! :-(
After all the pain, hardship and suffering and making so many decisions that determined whether humanity was going to survive or be annihilated, these two out of all people deserved a happy ending!
It it were up to me, my ending would've been Laura living on and she and Adama finally being able to build that cabin and having them live their days out in peace after all the hell they've been through
Their love was so organic and it progressed so naturally. Definitely one of the best fictional couples I have seen for quite some time. It broke my heart when she died at the end of the series and he is sitting on a hill top looking out over the land they were going to share together.
I absolutely loved A&R right from the beginning of the series. Their relationship had such a natural progression and felt so totally real. One of my favorite moments for them is very early on, when Roslin makes her first trip to the Galactica and Adama puts on all the bells and whistles. She hates it, but then Lee tells her that Adama did it for her, to make her feel important and respected. The look she gives Adama, reconsidering this man she thought she'd figured out, just classic.
@icyclaw123 I know! From the very start, I fell in love with these two. Like you, when I saw their final scene, I bawled. They had a beautiful relationship and I was drawn in by their story.
@icyclaw123 I was also 13 when I started watching this series and I too completely fell in love with Roslin/Adama. You just don't usually see a touching and sweet , non-teenager love story these days and it is nice to see that. They made two characters that completely hated each other in the beginning fall in love. And it was really nice to see how they finished that love story out. Although, personally I think Laura should not have died in the end. It would have been much cuter if she didn't.
@Kaitlynnlovescats so say we all, my friend. coincidentally, i also was about thirteen when BSG started and i fell in love with these two from the very start. i also agree on how Laura shouldn't have died, wanted to see her reaction to the cabin Bill built for them on Earth.
@adamaroslinfanatic Same here. I thought that would be really sweet. Personally, I think that she could have stayed sick with cancer, although, it would have been better if they had just made her not have cancer in the very end, like they had cured it. But Laura should have been able to build that cabin with Bill. I think it would have made for an even better love story for them. It would have been cuter.
@pithie84 Well, except of course that I bought all the CD's off of Amazon the instant they became available as well as the BSG Piano Song book, so I think I'm in the clear here...
I miss Galactica. It was one of the shows I really enjoyed watching over and over again. It stuck to me as being one of the deepest, most meaningful, and most useful lessons one can learn from a TV show.
I never got past Galactica's final flight, though - not even now. To see her broken and shattered like that, on the very doorstep of Earth, at the very end of the journey, it just kills me when I remember it.
But all characters in BSG lost so much in that journey. The price of peace is heavy.
@DevilDog016 I think it's better that they decided to quit Galactica after four seasons and leave it without stretching it to like 8 seasons or something like that.
@krisar123 i agree; i stumbled on this after listening to Bear's music for "The Walking Dead" (great show by the way). i have never watched BG but i am totally blown away by the music!!!!
@andrewwillamhunter You should. It's a lesson about greed and selflessness, betrayal and loyalty, good and evil. It shows how delicate the balance of peace is, and how overzealous creation and too much greed can destroy not the corrupt, but also the innocent around them.
But in the end, it's a lesson about humanity and goodness, about putting differences and the past aside for a greater good, about cleansing... But it's also tragic - it conveys the horror of war, and the heavy cost of peace.
@lestat23989 LMAO I feel the exact same way!!! One show that has alot of promise if the walking dead on AMC.. its a zombie apocalypse show.. cheezy sounding I know.. but I read all the comics before it was turned into a show.. the writter makes it a point to focus on its theme being surving, rebuilding, and all the drama that comes with it etc. Check it out.. Also I found Caprica is pretty good to. I am not on the edge of my seat as often.. but its still really good.
@Jaiyeson =D I also read the comics! well, not all of them, just until the prison, and they are just awesome. If the show keeps to the level of the comic it will be promising :). Caprica... maybe someday i watch it, but right now, it doesn't really call me
I felt the same way about Caprica. But Watch a few episodes.. you will be hooked. I didnt watch the show till second season.. then went back and watched all of season one. I know it feels like on face value watered down BSG but give it a chance you will be pleasently suprised.
I've ever only once cried during a tv series finale.
It was during the final adama/roslin scene. What a series this was. I still miss it to this day. Tv might continue have good series on, but the level of BSG will never be reached again, and this is a series that I will remember forever. To all of the actors and the people who worked on battlestar galactica: thank you for giving me 4 fine years of television and one hell of a tv show.
Actually, my friend, its the other way around. The instruments are different but the melody is DEFINITELY from Black Hawk Down. Type in: Leave No Man Behind by Hans Zimmer. But there must be a reasonable explanation why Bear McCreary is using it.
@Jammed9000 I respectfully disagree - though to two tunes are very similar. It might be that McCreary had permission to use Zimmer's song and alter it, as he did with All Along the Watch Tower.
@Jammed9000 I respectfully disagree - though the two tunes are very similar. It might be that McCreary had permission to use Zimmer's song and alter it, as he did with All Along the Watch Tower.
@Jammed9000@Jammed9000 LOL I love both tunes, they're listed back to back on my 'writing' playlist. They ARE incredibly similar in melody in certain places, but not identical - that was where I disagreed. I don't think McCreary deliberately and without permission ripped something off. Regardless, both have a bittersweet, sorrowful mood to them - great for listening to while writing emotionally powerful things.
Also, I don't know why you disagree with me about the tune. They ACTUALLY ARE INCREDIBLY similar. Seriously I'm listening to them now. And actually some instruments are the same to. I'll say it again if you care: Leave No Man Behind by Hans Zimmer. Tell me straight that they are different.
@Jammed9000 definitely very similar... but composers steal from each other (and themselves) all the time. However, I bet if Hans tried to file a lawsuit he would win
@nb08d I'm not sure he'd win as we as living beings always base what we do on previous experience. Therefore music usually is developed upon based on what you've heard previously.
Like you said, composers steal from from each other all the time. Just like everyone steals idea's from the previous person.
I'd bet on the lawsuit failing, unless it took the literal soundtrack note for note and called it his own. But I understand where you're coming from.
Awesome series! I recommend it to everybody who hasn't seen it yet. It's not just about Scifi, it's about life. And Bear McCreary with his music breathes life into the show. Well done guys, so sad that it's over now!
The desert of reality followed by a dream of what might be.
Despite that numb feeling, everything falling apart around us, and all the odds stacked against us, we persevere and refuse to surrender the one thing that makes us go on: hope. Hope that we will see brighter days, and that those days will be filled sharing smiles and warm embraces. Days, in which, happily, we can grow old together.
One, if not the best theme, ever done on BSG. Their theme is so bittersweet, like many others, but captivated me in a personal way. Especially when you know the ending. Again, excellent work McCreary. For being fresh out of music school, you sure did an epic job scoring this excellent series.
@NervXT I used to think that Admiral and Commander was the most emotionally evocative song of the series. But when I listen to this I can't help but get a little teary.
Even tough BSG is great, i still haven't re watched season four. It's just too harsh on every character and outright punishing to watch. Only two or three characters even remotely deserve all the shit they get thrown at them. And there is not even a way out of it all. Only a race wide suicide, because that's what the ending effectively was! I just think they really pushed it too far.
"Let us disperse into the wild, take my hand, dear friend. We will run past the quivering woods. It's starting to rain, better wear our hoods. I hope to find you again. Back to day, when we were suppose to be friends til the end. I sure will miss you, dear friend."
This song/theme makes me want to cry. After everything they've been through, there's finally peace. It's finally time to breathe and live... except for some.
I never got teary eyed watching tv before. But this thing made me cry and ruined my perfect record!

No one take this the wrong way but this sounds similar to parts of "Leave no man behind" from the Blackhawk Down soundtrack.
But this is slower. And sounds like it is using different instruments. and the obvious this is this one is Three minutes, the other is Six and a half.
knew this sounded familiar when i first heard it.

Their love was so organic and it progressed so naturally. Definitely one of the best fictional couples I have seen for quite some time. It broke my heart when she died at the end of the series and he is sitting on a hill top looking out over the land they were going to share together.
Rhofactor 9 months ago 4
I absolutely loved A&R right from the beginning of the series. Their relationship had such a natural progression and felt so totally real. One of my favorite moments for them is very early on, when Roslin makes her first trip to the Galactica and Adama puts on all the bells and whistles. She hates it, but then Lee tells her that Adama did it for her, to make her feel important and respected. The look she gives Adama, reconsidering this man she thought she'd figured out, just classic.

that, my friend, is why BSG rules hard time.

Kaitlynnlovescats 8 months ago
@Kaitlynnlovescats so say we all, my friend. coincidentally, i also was about thirteen when BSG started and i fell in love with these two from the very start. i also agree on how Laura shouldn't have died, wanted to see her reaction to the cabin Bill built for them on Earth.
adamaroslinfanatic 7 months ago
@adamaroslinfanatic Same here. I thought that would be really sweet. Personally, I think that she could have stayed sick with cancer, although, it would have been better if they had just made her not have cancer in the very end, like they had cured it. But Laura should have been able to build that cabin with Bill. I think it would have made for an even better love story for them. It would have been cuter.

DevilDog016 10 months ago
@DevilDog016 I think it's better that they decided to quit Galactica after four seasons and leave it without stretching it to like 8 seasons or something like that.

andrewwillamhunter 11 months ago
@andrewwillamhunter You should. It's a lesson about greed and selflessness, betrayal and loyalty, good and evil. It shows how delicate the balance of peace is, and how overzealous creation and too much greed can destroy not the corrupt, but also the innocent around them.
But in the end, it's a lesson about humanity and goodness, about putting differences and the past aside for a greater good, about cleansing... But it's also tragic - it conveys the horror of war, and the heavy cost of peace.

lestat23989 1 year ago 7
@lestat23989 LMAO I feel the exact same way!!! One show that has alot of promise if the walking dead on AMC.. its a zombie apocalypse show.. cheezy sounding I know.. but I read all the comics before it was turned into a show.. the writter makes it a point to focus on its theme being surving, rebuilding, and all the drama that comes with it etc. Check it out.. Also I found Caprica is pretty good to. I am not on the edge of my seat as often.. but its still really good.
Jaiyeson 1 year ago
@Jaiyeson =D I also read the comics! well, not all of them, just until the prison, and they are just awesome. If the show keeps to the level of the comic it will be promising :). Caprica... maybe someday i watch it, but right now, it doesn't really call me
lestat23989 1 year ago
@lestat23989

@Jammed9000 you dont have an ears? onli instruments are familiar, but melody is diferent
TheAntorius 1 year ago
@TheAntorius
Actually, my friend, its the other way around. The instruments are different but the melody is DEFINITELY from Black Hawk Down. Type in: Leave No Man Behind by Hans Zimmer. But there must be a reasonable explanation why Bear McCreary is using it.
Jammed9000 1 year ago 2
@Jammed9000 I respectfully disagree - though to two tunes are very similar. It might be that McCreary had permission to use Zimmer's song and alter it, as he did with All Along the Watch Tower.

Well, that's not disagreeing with me, that's basically what I said. I thought there might be a reasonable explanation and you provided it! Thanks!
Jammed9000 1 year ago
@Jammed9000 @Jammed9000 LOL I love both tunes, they're listed back to back on my 'writing' playlist. They ARE incredibly similar in melody in certain places, but not identical - that was where I disagreed. I don't think McCreary deliberately and without permission ripped something off. Regardless, both have a bittersweet, sorrowful mood to them - great for listening to while writing emotionally powerful things.
MistyK74525 1 year ago
@MistyK74525
Jammed9000 1 year ago
@Jammed9000 definitely very similar... but composers steal from each other (and themselves) all the time. However, I bet if Hans tried to file a lawsuit he would win
nb08d 1 year ago

NervXT 1 year ago 4
@NervXT I used to think that Admiral and Commander was the most emotionally evocative song of the series. But when I listen to this I can't help but get a little teary.
TheLogicalGod 1 year ago
Even tough BSG is great, i still haven't re watched season four. It's just too harsh on every character and outright punishing to watch. Only two or three characters even remotely deserve all the shit they get thrown at them. And there is not even a way out of it all. Only a race wide suicide, because that's what the ending effectively was! I just think they really pushed it too far.
