The BIGGEST problem is people who have lost loved ones in a terroist attack ( 911 for instance) will be saddened by this level. I agree with you because the option to skip the level with NO penalties was a great decision on infinity ward's part because that's saying that, "if your disgusted , it's your fault, we warned you". Modern Warfare 2 was story driven. As "mediocre" as the story was it was still all about the story. And part of the story is knowing how bad that one guy really was. You're suppose to get a sense of just how horrible of a human that Russian was, and the best way of getting the sense was with the 'No Russian" mission. You saw first hand how bad that guy was and that made you WANT to stop him.
'No Russian' did it's job perfectly.
Not to mention you can choose NOT to use your gun in the mission.

No Russian is not for those who are faint hearted but I do recommend playing through it as it is quite important to the story line of the game but many people are sensitive to this type of content which is perfectly fine

For example, the Vietnam war, was shown on TV every evening and as a result people were actually shown what exactly what happend. I respect that. Visual is 2x more powerful than speaking. I bought MW2 for my 9 year old cousin on the xbox 360. A week later he came crying towards me about the game saying that it is too violent. No Russian was a pretty violent mission, especially for Russians. No kidding - we have a patch which deletes the whole level - that 's how our goverment reacted :) Everyone knows - it's just a videogame but on the other hand - this mission is like take a bunch of animals, put them in the corner and just shoot till the shooters out of the ammo. The problem is in innocent people - you can shoot or not shoot them... but they will die from shots of the others...

the point of No Russian is to show what terrorism is like on the opposite side, and just how sick and sad it is. kids may enjoy killing soldiers in the game then they see what violence is really like, and it isnt that fun lol. i think its a good stage.

i played no russian when i was 11 or 12 (im 13 now,not that old) and thought it was fine. now, should infiniti ward given a little more detail about what ure skipping? sure but i was playing black ops the other day and it said the same thing. i clicked to allow "didturbing content" and once i finished, i had no clue of what was supposed to be "disturbing" i liked no russian, great mssion with excelent plot twist at end

For example, the Vietnam war, was shown on TV every evening and as a result people were actually shown what exactly what happend. I respect that. Visual is 2x more powerful than speaking. When you watch the news and hear someone has been killed, would you be more affected if you heard it happen and shown the area or if they showed the body.

I bought MW2 for my 9 year old cousin on the xbox 360. A week later he came crying towards me about the game saying that it is too violent. Even his parents accused me for buying him a game out of his age. So i mentioned to them, " there is a skip level on the tutorial,AND the game actually warns you about violence. So if [cousins's name] said 'yes' then its his fault."

No Russian was a pretty violent mission, especially for Russians. No kidding - we have a patch which deletes the whole level - that 's how our goverment reacted :) Everyone knows - it's just a videogame but on the other hand - this mission is like take a bunch of animals, put them in the corner and just shoot till the shooters out of the ammo. The problem is in innocent people - you can shoot or not shoot them... but they will die from shots of the others...

the point of No Russian is to show what terrorism is like on the opposite side, and just how sick and sad it is. kids may enjoy killing soldiers in the game then they see what violence is really like, and it isnt that fun lol. i think its a good stage.
ps: just remember that yes it is a game, and its only a small portion of the entire game.
