  • Great videos man! How about something on Part time jobs?

  • @jakesinjapan Sir

Nice video but you did not have the Ni Sen En/2,000 Yen bill. Here is my video with the 2,000 Yen bill. Thank you for your time. Osu

  • Naw I want to know about shibuya 109! XDD

I think a lot of girls would love to learn a little bit something about that place ~

    cheers jake

  • I did like your video until you spit it at me. =.=*

no jk. Are there any areas of Japan that tourists shouldn't go? I would like to go see all the little farms and mountains but I've heard that smaller towns are alot less welcoming than big metros. Would you agree with that?

  • "Robots..." lol

  • i want to visit Japan this summer.. is it hard to figure out.. like.. trains. .and stuff.. do you have like a monthly pass, or do you pay as you go?

  • Hey Jake! I'd love if you could do a video on your favorite places in Tokyo! Anyway, hope things are well where you are. :)

  • Also I would like to know. If I got a working holiday visa, what is some work I could take on?

  • What an epic father

  • Awesome video Jake! Its sad that I won't be going to Japan now...I was going to use so many of your tips. I will go next year though, for sure!

  • This is definitely the way you've got to film the rest of your videos from now on. Nice intro, as well. Cute and silly all throughout!

  • @takeusaway3 Thanks much! I really want this series to be a good mix of entertainment and education. I really wasn't prepared for a lot of things when I first got to Japan and I want to help people that may experience the same problems.

  • i like the robot xD

can you tell us about how you got into a university in japan?

  • @kaserbot great idea! I'm putting that one on the list.

  • Good info. We use mostly back debit cards here.

  • @qiranger I really wish that was the case for Japan. It's so convenient.

  • Have you noticed the complete lack of a "return policy" in Japan? One time I had a clerk think I was crazy to even ask it. After much pleading, she pulled out her Hello Kitty notepad and attempted to complete the return... which she couldn't figure out how to do anyways. I was just like O_O "can't you just swipe my card...?!?" Lol!

  • @emiiidesu Hahaha, that was a hysterical comment! Sadly, I never experienced trying to return something. It's really odd how Japan handles purchases, seems so old-school.

  • LOL great video!! I really needed a laugh right now and you delivered :) Thanks

I still remember the first time I went to seven eleven and tried to pay by card (the cashier looked at me like I was crazy)

Not sure why your card wouldn't work at 7/11, mine did

and I think food would be a great topic for the next video (I saw a comment about good food other than fish available in Japan) you could include Yakiniku, taiyaki, kaiten sushi, shabu shabu, okonomiyaki and a ton of other stuff

  • @Kabocha711 Glad I could deliver! Hope you're doing well Jess. Have you been hanging around Sophia at all? If so, how are they doing?

Thanks for the input too! You basically just wrote that episode for me.

  • @jakesinjapan Im doing fine... my area was scheduled for 3 blackouts in the past two days and train service is really limited so I havent left my apartment much lately. Food is hard to find too since everyone is stocking up. Everyone is worried about the radiation from the power plants, but it hasn't reached my area.

A friend of mine was at Sophia yesterday and he told me that the entire campus was closed for the day. I am going in today. I hear that there is a huge crack on the wall of bld 2

  • @Kabocha711 Damn, that's horrible. Stay safe!

  • @jakesinjapan Thanks!

Things in downtown Tokyo have all but returned to normal, it is just taking a bit longer for my are since I am in the suburbs (but hopefully by next week)

  • Great video! I love everything you put together. :) For Thai students in Japan we always think this way: 100 yen = 35 baht! haha strange right? And i also noticed that Japanese people don't really use credit card. The way they spend money is different from that of in the US.

  • @ploysr08 100 to 35??? that is a pain... Yeah, it was a real surprise when i found that using credit cards were not commonplace in Japan. Hope your having fun in Europe!

  • @JackEvanJones haha, glad you liked it. I thought it was a necessary addition.

  • LoL . Your dad's cameo cracked me up. Nice one. Interesting breakdown of the banks and credit cards. Unlike here in north america where credit & debit reigns supreme & cash is becoming less commonplace.

PS. Did you have to return the robot for one that works?

  • @Crush777 Sadly, I can't return him... I think I've created a monster. You'll have to tune in for the next GGtJ to see what I mean.

  • are there foods that arent fish regularly available in japan or are they hard to find

  • @Lovable0ak OoooOO, That's a great idea. Thanks!

  • Almost no plastic? I rarely ever keep cash on me...

  • @HotPocketEXE That was probably the biggest culture shock for me. I used to never carry cash either...

  • really great video! loved everything about it. including the robot! =)

  • @ozzy78 Thanks ozzy! I hope everyone that you know in Japan is safe!

  • Did the tsunami and Earthquakes effect you?

  • @xoJirachi Pretty sure he's back in America now.

  • @xoJirachi Thanks for the concern. I'm in the states at the moment, but my day was spent trying to contact everyone in Japan. Turns out everyone that I know and their families are safe. Thank god for Twitter.

  • I want the disney card !

  • Good vacation spots, misconceptions other gajin have, food and culture differences.

  • @ThomasGordonCanavan1 Done, done, and done. They are on the list!

  • Part-time jobs for sure! And how much you get paid, stuff like that ^^ More like, what kinds of part time jobs are available for foreigners.

Thanks for the vid! All my Japanese friends mostly use only cash, but it's never occured to me that it's because credit cards are not accepted everywhere xD

  • @dothetwist298 Thanks for the comment!

I think you nearly wrote my episode for me. Well, at least the outline. Thanks!

  • love the editing ^-^!! really nice!

    i usually use 100 = 1USD too...

although i'm pretty used to yen now ^-^

  • @mimei Thanks mimei! Glad you and everyone else is safe. I was glued to my tv and phone all day, such horrible news.

  • I'd like to know about the part time jobs too! :O

  • @SulkYoO I'll get on it then! After my next topic.

  • This is the first video of yours since I subscribed a couple of days ago. And now an earthquake and tsunami has hit Japan?! What the eff D:

  • @MolinMUSE I know... I've spent the entire day trying to get a hold of friends. It turns out everyone is safe, thankfully.

I am in the states right now, but thanks for your concern. I'll hopefully be back in the J-land in September!

  • @jakesinjapan I'm glad you and your friends are safe! This is such a tragic event, I hope everyone does their best to help.

  • Everything was good...but please no more robot!! lol XD

I want to know about the part time jobs

  • @fabitapunk That seems to be like a popular request! Guess I'll start working on that topic after the next episode.

Haha, and the robot is gonna stay for now. I'll probably change his voice though, I think it was a little hard to hear what he was saying...

  • i wanna know about drifting on public streets :P

  • @sheldyk As in like living on the streets? I actually took a NPO class in Japan with a teacher who lived with the homeless for a year. I may actually be able to scrape enough info for a video on that.

  • @jakesinjapan I mean drifting with cars, i hear that is popular in japan to go to the streets and do drifting races.

  • @sheldyk haha, wow. I somehow completely missed that.

  • I need to study D:

    great vid

  • @heisokay Thanks! I need to study too. Everyday, if feel like I know less and less.
