We have a 2 year old staffie called Amber which we have had since she was 8 weeks, and 2 cats aged 11 years and 15 years. The cats rule the roast and put Amber in her place, although the next minute they are all curled up asleep on the settee together. They have a love hate relationship - but more love than hate. ha ha. Amber has always been been very submissive to the cats and I worry more about them hurting her than her hurting them.

Just because this staffy is good with cats, doesn't mean all will be. No 2 dogs are the same, even if they are the same breed. So if you have doubts that your dog will get on with a new cat- best stick to having just the dog. Its all down to the individual dog.

@kimnulfo Try introducing them with the cat in a separate room. Close the door and let them "meet" by sniffing and sticking a paw back and forth under the door. Then gradually together with supervised time. It shouldn't take long - if at all.

i wonder, how did you get them to get along? I have an 8mth staffie (we got her at 5 months) and we have 2 older cats. Its been about 3 months and the cats still hiss at her, but only when she tries to jump at them. She's always on a leash all the time when the cats are around and I would love to have all 3 of them get along and even play with each other.

@juancho2707 i have done some research on both the amstaff and the APBT. in all honesty they are the same dog..the am staff is akc and the APBT is ukc...the pit is bred for game..like weight pulling so there hight and weight stuff like that dosnt matter they can even have blue eyes. but the am staff is bred for show so they have a range in hight and weight and cant have blue eyes.. and i think are bred to have black noses...not sure about the nose thing though :) any way this vid is so cute!!!
