*sigh* I can't seem to get the graphics driver bit to install and get the right resolution, otherwise things mostly work. So agrivating. Anyone have any tips?
wow nice man, i'm thinking of getting a hp mini also! can you PM me the links of where i can get the HP mini to work perfectly on OSX? that'll be great!! thanks in advance!
For $299, I still consider it my most cost effective Mac. I throw it around... and there really isn't much that can break. The keyboard is great and the screen is solid, maybe a little on the smaller side, but still.
@MitchellDC yea i know it will be great if i can get it up and running i just dont have to deal with all the little errors most ppl have when using os x on a windows based pc like sound and wifi like you mentioned
Netbooks were never intended for heavy lifting (photoshop, video, etc.). If you keep that in mind, the system is snappy. Firefox seems fast enough for regular usage. It does slow down when you have 6+ tabs open, but that shouldn't be a surprise. It's as fast as G4 Mac mini, which I still consider very usable.
I took this computer to Japan with me a few months back, and it was invaluable. My iPhone just wasn't a real option in some places (and I think the iPad would have had similar issues).
great video. I did a dual dual boot on my Dell 10v with Snow Leopard. I created a nice tutorial for it. Any specifics on your process? I'd be happy to create the tutorial for your system and credit you with helping.
To be honest, there were a number of steps to get this system to where it is now. Much of it was trial and error, so I do not have a clear "how to" for this system. Unless you have a 1035nr computer, I'm not much help.
I'm thinking of documenting the Snow Leopard upgrade, so hold on to your seats :-)
When i boot up into OSX. The apple symbol like at :51 is at a resolution of 640x480. But when i get to the log in screen its at the regular 1024x576. Nothings wrong with it but its bugging me.
No, it's apparently a tricky one. I will be upgrading my system to Snow Leopard within the next few weeks and I hear that it will show the boot up apple correctly.
Yes, I just installed it to confirm. I'm not sure if it works 100%, but it seems to be functioning properly. Was there something you wanted me to run to verify anything?
The Shut Down option works normally with my hackintosh. The Reboot option does not function properly. It will shut down, but seems to freeze before fully shutting down, requiring you to press the power button for 5 seconds to hard reboot the system.
Sleep is somewhat working. AKA, when I close the lid, I can open it up again and it will wake up where I left off. That said, if I keep the lid open for too long, I occasionally need to restart it. The headphone jacks work well, but it's a little quiet. I also get the low battery signal the moment it gets to around 60%, which is annoying, but in no way a deal breaker.
I haven't been using my HP mini much the last few months, but when I was in Japan, it was a great little laptop have.
I dont know if at the time when you installed it was already released, but using iATKOS v7 is a lot easier than with iDeneb, it's pretty straightforward, i got it fully working in the first attempt. Whats not working is the volume control slider, it works but the sound level stays the same, the internal mic and sleep, which is the major showstopper for me.
Beside that everything worked out of the box, just nedeed a quick fix for the resolution.
Look on insanelymac forum, there's a guide to do it
Alright guys, I hackintoshed the hp mini 110-1000. Pain in the ass and tedious install. Worth it. Wireless works great, even picks up networks it didn't on windows 7, funny right. Biggest problems I'm having is if I let the mini go to sleep and I get back on the trackpad and the keyboard freeze. Also trackpad freezes sometimes during login and you have to restart. I'm really happy overall and it even works with an external monitor. DON'T DUPLICATE DISPLAY
Dual booting on a netbook would probably be a memory/storage killer. Just a guess. But, if you got an external hard drive, installed Windows on that and installed OS X on the built in storage (or vice versa) then you would get it to run more smooth. SO, it's more than likely possible, just a little buggy if you don't use an external drive.
Mickysmithers: yep. It will run everything my Mac Mini will run. Some programs (Photoshop for example) will require you to trick the computer due to the screen size, but that is a program issue. Yes. You van run Photoshop on this computer.
I'm just curious, seeing as how I know almost nothing about doing this, but you can download any app that's for 10.5 rite? And also, would it be relatively easy for someone that doesn't know much about doing this to actually do it?
Hi, I have the same hardware as you do and i have obtained different versions of ideneb but i keep getting the same problem. Ideneb doesn't seem to fit my screen. I can't see the full page and buttons i have to select. Did this happen to you also? Am I supposed to change my resolution settings and if so how? I would really appreciate any guidance on this matter as i got the mini specifically for this use. Happy to see it work on your machine and would love to get the same results. Thanks
I don't think it would output that very well. Standard divx movies can have issues if I have other applications running. It may be that there is only 1GB of ram or the fact that the graphics card just isn't that advanced. That said, divx movies run well enough to be watched without issues.
There are a number of sites that post this type of information. It also has much to do with your specific hardware. I would buy something that is very generic.
I'm not familiar with that hardware. My system only has a 16GB hard drive, so I'm not sure if there would be issues. That said, it would be nice to have a 120+GB drive... Hmmm, perhaps that is what my next hackintosh will have.
xXPinoysnowboarderXx, Sorry, I no longer own the mini. It was fun while it lasted.

No, I'm still using 1gb. I hear that if you upgrade, you may end up having issues with sleep.

UPDATE: I noticed that the temperature does not work. I'm guessing the HP Mini doesn't have a temperature sensor or it isn't working properly.
MitchellDC 2 years ago
@MitchellDC All computers have sensors... Google around for a fix..
Also, do you have a vanilla install?(Apple's kernel)
Do you have mic working? And I know ethernet doesn't work..
xX666rkid666Xx 2 years ago
I do not have a vanilla install. I used iDeneb to achieve my system.
Ethernet works perfectly. The mic is also working, but don't really use it much to confirm that it is consistently functional.

Hey does your power switch work? It doesn't work on mine. Inorder to shut down i need to click the apple. I have the Hp Mini 110-1000. =\

Yes, the power switch works normally.

@MitchellDC
Do you know how i can fix mine?
WerthersRyummy 2 years ago
Unfortunately, mine has always worked, so I don't know how to fix it.
MitchellDC 2 years ago
@WerthersRyummy You have to HOLD the power switch if you want to hard boot it.. Normally with OS X you have to click the Apple and select shut down.

The Shut Down option works normally with my hackintosh. The Reboot option does not function properly. It will shut down, but seems to freeze before fully shutting down, requiring you to press the power button for 5 seconds to hard reboot the system.
