@wannabekunok In the past I've been targeted by so-called "votebots". If you're interested you can look up the term but suffice to say that the ratings do not reflect the typical response I got to this video. Thanks for watching and thanks also for your kind comment :-)
I have immediately removed all the mirrors from my home. Thanks, Pino, for warning me about the treachery of mirrors! I will never use a mirror again... that might make shaving a little precarious, but one must take those risks in life. 8-)
This reminds me of an astronomy lab I had a few weeks ago. We had to measure the distance from an object and then measure the distance of the reflection. Kinda hard to get your head around at first, but it was a fun lab. Mirrors are fun.
what was suprising at first (until you think about it) is that the reflection of the object, and the object itself are the same distance from the mirror.
what i find annoying about mirrors is that as i do my hair in the morning i set it to the a side that i think looks good for my reflection but in reality its backwards and looks a little funny. (at least to me because im not used to seeing myself like that; mirror vs. camera/photos)
Here's sort of an informal proof by contradiction: If you could stand on the wall, swapping left and right would be equivalent to swapping top and bottom. And we know that mirrors don't do that.
That left-right/back-front thing was news to me, but the shadow thing? Watching the pen's shadow, you can see that it reflects onto the real sink. Isn't the shadow in the mirror just a reflection of that? Otherwise how is the shadow on the real sink existing?
Exactly. The sink is illuminated not only by the light, but also by the reflection of the light. As I move the pen forward it moves into the path of the reflected light, casting a shadow on the real sink, which is duly reflected in the mirror. :-)
Now this I get better than your maths. Being incredibly left handed I see everything in mirror image and my brain has to reinvert it. As a child I wrote in mirror writing from right to left, took me years to get thing the 'right' way round (read the way right handers see it). So maybe that explains the weirdness. :)
Why does this video have so many dislikes? He explaned the mirror problem greatly!

I was thinking that you were going to get into how our brain interprets the camera obscura that we see with our eyes.
and
The 'hello' on the cd case that the mirror was reflecting was actually 'oll3h' on the back of it.
You always get me thinking Pino.

It's not really you. It's just a reflection on the lens. The camera's mirror. te-he
When I was little we had one of those tri mirror bathroom fixtures. I used to line them up so I would go on forever.
Have you seen the tedtalks which talks about curing phantom limbs with mirrors??
