Homework...sucks. They say it's supposed to be practice for tests/quizzes, but I just recopy my notes and...study. Homework is not practice, it's just busy work in my opinion. I usually finish my homework in class or in the library when I'm waiting for my next class to begin haha it is useful though when I need a few extra points or something.

This is actually true, cause if you think about it, if you were to do homework just for teachers to see what you learned and if you learned something or not, why can't it just be proven on tests? Also, homework technically does NOTHING to make a student LEARN, all it is, is memorization with homework, and there is a difference with remembering and understanding.
As a kid in secondary school, I should fully agree with this point of view. But, I have to admit that my opinion is a little subjective. So, that being said, there are advantages to homework. Lastly, homework is very important for me (and I'm sure it is to many others, especially in high school and beyond) because AP classes can't be passed with an A by just paying attention in class. Trust me, I'm a straight A student (I don't mean to boast but I am just establishing credibility).
Schools have students complete homework assignments because it gets them into the habit of doing it; so that they are ready for doing it in the future when homework assignments are very helpful to the students. I know homework is "important" but I work 30 hours a week for minimum wage at McDonald's so I can MAYBE, just MAYBE have enough to go to college, which I would love to go to. What's the point of me doing homework at 11:30 at night after I've been at work all day. It brings down my grades...the grades I NEED to go to college. Really think work load should be reduced for students, there arenew circumstances for today.

1. There are billions of trees in the world. I estimate that 1 4 foot homework pile takes 1 tree.
2. 2 hours may not seem much to me, but I understand that 2 hours every 5 days (not including holidays)

Lastly, homework is very important for me (and I'm sure it is to many others, especially in high school and beyond) because AP classes can't be passed with an A by just paying attention in class. Trust me, I'm a straight A student (I don't mean to boast but I am just establishing credibility).

Schools have students complete homework assignments because it gets them into the habit of doing it; so that they are ready for doing it in the future when homework assignments are very helpful to the students. Every grade is a building block in the whole of education; the early years being more important because that is where everything starts.

Homework is pointless, unhealthy, and kills life. Isn't it enough that we go to school for like 7-8 hours with 6 PERIODS? Now why must you make matters worse by having the work invade our home? That is utterly absurd waste right there. And homework is paper and paper is made from trees and trees are the source of our oxygen and therefore kills us. Waste of time, oxygen, and unhealthy shit.

I know homework is "important" but I work 30 hours a week for minimum wage at McDonald's so I can MAYBE, just MAYBE have enough to go to college, which I would love to go to. What's the point of me doing homework at 11:30 at night after I've been at work all day. It brings down my grades...the grades I NEED to go to college. If I was told to manage a class then homework is the best way to make sure the students understand all that's being taught. Maybe I'll also scare them lil bit if they don't finish it so that they'll go home & really do their work.

This kid definitely made his point. It all makes sense when you really think about it. To prove his point even more, I don't even remember more than half the stuff I was taught when given homework. Then again, if we didn't have homework, we would become even more lazy and unproductive. It's a sticky situation, but he definitely makes a point.
