IF we were to talk about more recent history before the colonisations, there were 3 separate kingdoms, 1 tamil and 2 sinhala kingdoms. The dutch and the portugese kept us separate, whereas the British brought us together- the root cause of the current ethnic conflits. LTTE is not the sole representative of tamils.
