  • I grew up in Spain in the early 70's. My grandpa worked for Renfe and he had lifetime passes on first class for him and his wife. The trains back in those days were amazing, as were the train stations. I remember one time needing to go to the "WC" and wewnt in the stall, and once I got into the stall, there was just a hole in the cement floor. I weent back out and aked my grandpa were the toilet was LOL!!! The hole was it!

  • I was amazed in 2007 when travelling from Valladolid to Salamanca to find that my train (the 'Miguel de Unamuno') was an old 'red' Talgo pulled by an elderly 333. Getting into the Talgo was like stepping back into a 1950's film set!! But a great trip. I recall how low the train seemed to be when we pulled into Medina del Campo.

    unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on the person you speak to), no more Talgo III trains circulate today in Spain. All of them are boring DMU's and high speed EMU's (I say boring because the all have the same paint scheme and shape and look boring)

  • I do not find any similarity between any German loco and the 333. Maybe you were referring to a Danish one?.

    333 series locomotives are 'sisters' of Danish Mz's.

  • I think there is no similarity between DB V221 and Renfe 333. Please search in google for 'Renfe 340', and this locomotive was really very similar to V221.

    Class 340 had German origin and had two Maybach engines developing in total 4000HP, but unfortunately wasn't successful and were retired. I'm not saying with this that it was a bad locomotive. The reasons because it was retired were low weight, prone to slipping, and high maintenance necessary for its Mekhydro transmission.

  • Totalmente de acuerdo. Sera muy historico y todo lo que tu quieras, pero la comodidad, rapidez y puntualidad no existen con el servicio Talgo de Renfe...

  • RENFE está a punto de retirar los últimos que quedan en servicio: Barcelona-París; Barcelona-Bilbao y Madrid-Pontevedra. Dentro de poco esto será una imagen para la Historia.

  • si ferro la imagen parece comprimida, ademas el manso de la segunda rama esta en el centro de la composicion.

  • ¿Es mi impresión o la imagen está un poco comprimida por los laterales?

    Resulta curioso ver el manso de la 2ª rama al final de la composición y no entre medias de las dos ramas, como era habitual. ¡Qué tiempos aquellos! ¡Cuántas horas esperando el paso del anciano Talgo!
