if those two guys had any actual engineering or knew just a little bit about what they were doing then they would realize that in order for that saw to be any good at all as other than a complete waste of time the water wheel should either power or be directly attached to a massive fly wheel that in turn does the actual sawing. Why you ask? Well in order to saw something you need a lot of torque and that water has very little torque. A massive fly wheel has lots of torque making it efficient.
