Bullsnake they arent venomous at all, you can tell them apart from a prairie rattlesnake very easily by the more visible markings and colors, the markings look alot like those of a cornsnake like u see in a pet store. I live on my great-grandparents homestead 5 miles north of where you were camping and the biggest one I personally shot was longer than I am tall and Im 5'6". I also killed a rattlesnake that was over 4 1/2 feet long and the rattle had 12 rattles.
lol my dad just got back from viet nam and what happen was he was driving a moped/motorcycle ,and there the road was in the mini forst, my dad saw up ahead a snake and stopped,he thought the snake could bite him,but he just went full speed and ran over the snake.He got a bag put the snake in it and went home cooked it and ate it lol!

bull snakes are awesome! when i lived in south dakota in a town called oelrichs, i would catch them all the time.
