i tried to respond to this but my comment jumped above... polite is the right adjective... i would not have thought of the word, but i kinda like the polite sound!
Aw I remember doing this. It is so much better than I thought it would turn out. Specially since most of the parts only had like 2 or 3 people to do it.
good. i sang this is high school and i remember it being alot faster. we won states with this song! we put our own twist on it. but this choir did it awsome. i had to do the wheel in a wheel in a part and it was sooo FAST
I'm proud of them, I'm in an avon high school choir. They have never made it to state with our current choir director so we were all really excited. They sounded pretty good right there. In practice I think they did bettere, but nerves must have gotten to them on stage.
might i point out that they are all going the same tempo, or at least they should be at the end. and if you do all of the dawson splits i believe you end up with a thirteen part split. nice. try to avoid just yelling at the end.
my choir is singin this song and i must say we sound pretty damn good and were one of the top three high school choirs in the U.S. but they sound pretty good and its a nice piece of music
I feel some of the people on here are being a little judgemental. This is only a high school choir, and I think they did exceptional for that level. I mean, we're talking about 17 and 18 year old kids singing this. Plus, this is an exceptionally difficult song, particularly the end when there are ten parts moving at different rhythms and tempos. I would say this choir did very well, and thus why they were at state finals. This was not even their best song.
wow you are biased since you posted somewhere else that you sang it. by the way i think you might be a bit tone deaf and saying that you sang it as a freshman id say you were pretty week and you all sped it up just to get through prolly
I think that dawson is pure genius to create such a song!..who would think to say sumthin like :doom-a-looma: and make it sound sooooo good just like a wheel turning? GENIUS!
The breathing was really choppy with the theme. Possibly staggered breathing would help with that. There's a tenor that's sticking out in the ostinato section that isn't just someone covering the part, the kid's just not blending. Oh yea... and the soprano singing the high Bb is a tad flat. But well done none the less.
sooooo slow!!!!

I believe this choir is using the same arrangement I've seen...which says to say ezekul, not ezekiel.
