Okay guys... Jeeps and toyotas are both awesome 4wd vehicles. I have done stuff in my FJ40 and 4runner that a jeep couldn't do and I have seen a jeep do what my FJ40 and 4runner can't. This is a messed up race. If that is a 5.9 grand cherokee and it does look like one. It would have won if it to were stock like the FJ. A lift, larger tires and whatever screwy suspension it has going on is NOT going to help it win a drag race.

That Grand Cherokee has a ton of extra stuff mounted on it while the FJ looks to be stock. In a drag that puts the Cherokee at a disadvantage. However they are both nice vehicles.
@krbi96 the cherokee didnt have more power than a grand cherokee. they were produced with the exact same base motor (4.0) the grand cherokee had higher gearing giving the grand cherokee about 25 - 35 more rear wheel horse power than the cherokee. the motor pushed the same specs on the dyno, just diferent in the rear wheel horses. cherokees still woop ass on grand cherokee in actual offroading situations. the power tech I6 pushed about 3 more horses than the HO and 10- 20 more lb-ft of torque.

you dont know jeeps well, the new venture transmissions are actually muncie trannies (known for being one of the strongest ) the 4.0 is one of the longest production motors of all time, the dana rears are what all major companies trust in there heavy trucks, lets not forget toyota has flaws too, like the tocoma rusting to pieces worse than the old cj's ever did. and for the new ones, holy hell how many recalls can toyota have in under a month. im not a toyota hater but see good in both

Where's yours showing that Toyota is less reliable than Jeep? Until you actually pass the 300,000 mile mark on your XJ without any problems, then you don't have experience.

@taitai907 I never said they weren't reliable. they are very reliable. my jeep has never taken a mind of it's own and gone full throttle causing numerous accidents. consumer reports is a load of shit. they also stated that the iPhone wasn't a good phone, yet it's the most successful and user friendly phone made to date. I have plenty of friends with jeeps and toyotas, all of which are happy, I don't need to own them to have an opinion. can't call a corolla owner for a tow.

1) Likewise, I DON'T think Jeep is unreliable, they generally aren't as reliable as Toyota. Though I hear the 4.0 is exceptionally tough.
2) I DON'T think Jeep is garbage. They make very good off-roaders better than most Toyotas (except maybe the pricy foreign-sold Land Cruiser).
3) I never said I was reading Consumer Reports. I read reports from a variety of review sites.

I was using it as an example. jeeps are just as reliable if not more. jeeps go through more rigorous situations. toyotas stay in the garage during blizzards and never get dirty. the new fjs are about as useful as the h2 or h3 off road. too cumbersome and unresponsive. the first vehicle people think of for offloading is a jeep, plain and simple. that reputation is well earned from ww2 to now

This is a messed up race. If that is a 5.9 grand cherokee and it does look like one. It would have won if it to were stock like the FJ. A lift, larger tires and whatever screwy suspension it has going on is NOT going to help it win a drag race.

@Chorrio50 well i have owned a dodge,and a honda, and now a jeep. i loved them all but that honda had 406,000 miles on it before i get rid of it and its still running today now i dont like any other brands of non American cars but honda's idc what anyone says they are great. mind u that honda only had the trans rebuilt once for 1,500 and one new clutch. motor never rebuilt or touched besides normal things such as oil change. :D

@krbi96 the cherokee didnt have more power than a grand cherokee. they were produced with the exact same base motor (4.0) the grand cherokee had higher gearing giving the grand cherokee about 25 - 35 more rear wheel horse power than the cherokee. the motor pushed the same specs on the dyno, just diferent in the rear wheel horses. cherokees still woop ass on grand cherokee in actual offroading situations. the power tech I6 pushed about 3 more horses than the HO and 10- 20 more lb-ft of torque.

you dont know jeeps well, the new venture transmissions are actually muncie trannies (known for being one of the strongest ) the 4.0 is one of the longest production motors of all time, the dana rears are what all major companies trust in there heavy trucks, lets not forget toyota has flaws too, like the tocoma rusting to pieces worse than the old cj's ever did. and for the new ones, holy hell how many recalls can toyota have in under a month. im not a toyota hater but see good in both

@911turb0 sometimes, but you are comparing trucks built to do completely different things. in a race, a raptor will win. on narrow trails, it simply wont fit. in open desert (where i live and wheel) a Raptor makes more sense than a jeep or fj. both have limits, and both have plaes where they exeed.
